So my periods have been messed up since stopping the pill in Jan 2017. I had two periods in 7 months both 14 days plus late.

Went to the dr last week and had a blood test.

I went back to the drs this morning. She said I have suspected PCO. And I have to have an ultra scan to rule it out as my other blood result ratios are fine.

She said the pill doesnt affect testerone levels so it cant be that.

It take a month to get an ultra scan appointment.

Also have to have blood test results done next month on day 2-5 of my period as the test I had done was on the first day of my period.

Dont wait like I did as if I do have PCO I could have started treatment months ago.

Thanks for the advice little and am sorry that it's taking so long for treatment to begin.
I had an mc in march and surgery in april. My period came back normal in may and june and no period this month.
Just don't know whether there's a problem and I have stopped ovulating. Worried really.

Littleonek · 10/07/2017 11:26

Im sorry to hear you had a MC.

Im hoping my tests come back clear.

I would go back to your DRs and ask for a blood test.

Missing a period does happen though, stress can play a part in it. You could wait to see what happens next month. But from my experience I would just visit your DR now.

Pcos affects 20-30% or women. Pcos affects more like 5-8% of women.

pco is not thought to affect fertility, but can (in some cases) be indicative of endometriosis or a thyroid issue. It is not (in most cases) a big deal.

Pcos is an endocrine and hormone disorder and can indeed affect fertility.

physicskate · 10/07/2017 11:38

Damn autocorrect!! That should say pco affects 20-30%! Pcos affects a much lower percentage!

OldSoul · 10/07/2017 11:38

Thanks Little
when will you get your result?
oh scrap that just read back that you will have to do a test next month.
The waiting time is awful so can only imagine the dreaded wait.
I hope all comes back clear for you.

Not sure what the doctor will do on my end, will just continue ttc and see what happens.

I had an ultrasound scan years ago but was told it was inconclusive because I was at the 'wrong' point of my cycle and I had to book an appointment weeks in advance for the 'right' point in my cycle.

Would be great if my cycles were remotely trackable which is why the GP I saw thought PCO (no hormone issues that I'm aware of). GP's advice was there was no fix treatment anyway (is that not true now?) so no way in which to know when I would be at the right point in my cycle for them to get a clear picture. Maybe I should go back?

This has been going on years. I might have a normal cycle for a few months then it's totally random again, but I wouldn't even hazard a guess which months will be 'normal' and which won't.

Peach9876 · 10/07/2017 11:48

I hope you get some helpful results back and they can find a way to help manage things.

Littleonek · 10/07/2017 12:02

Thanks guys!

Thats stupid the dr said it was the wrong point in your cycle. The dr I saw today didnt say anything about it having to be done at a certain time. I would defo go back to your drs, maybe see a different one.

My next blood test will be tricky as my periods are late or dont appear so to have a test on day 2-5 I will need to rush to the hospital and sit and wait as soon it is in that period. I hope next months will be on time so it will be easier to get time off work.

I will see if I can have a quick chat next time I'm there. We are planning on trying for a baby after the new year (at the moment just a doting auntie and TA) so would be good to know if there are issues going in.

I wonder if things have changed (better technology etc) since I went. It was in my late teens IIRC.
