Seven Seas conception vitamins/pills - any good?

Hello! Just as the title states really.

Has anyone tried those Seven Seas "Trying for a Baby" conception tablets? Bought some last week however the reviews online are a bit mixed. (They were only £2.90 in Savers so at least I've not broke the bank!)

Are they worth a try or would it be cheaper just to keep taking regular folic acid? Thing that concerned me was some reviewers said it can upset cycles etc and I'm usually pretty regular.

Many thanks for your help! Smile

I am taking them. I decided to start earlier than we would be trying. Partly because I've read advice to take them as much in advance of trying as possible and partly because I read those same reviews and wanted to make sure my cycle was not going to mess up when we started trying.

We are not yet pregnant (though have not been trying all that hard yet) but my cycles have stayed the same and ive had no side effects at all.

I take them... Have got pregnant twice when on them.. Don't know how much of a role they play or not.. But unfortunately I've also miscarriaged twice but I doubt it was anything to do with the vitamins.. I'm back on them now.. They don't make me feel sick as opposed to the pregnacare ones which I take as a positive

Fell pregnant first cycle trying after taking them for 3 months!

I've heard they can help regulate/lengthen luteul phase which panicks some as it's making their cycle healthier, but they worry it's lengthening cycle. This isn't a scientific analysis! Just what I've heard.

Worked wonders for me, am 38 so wasn't expecting it! 19w now and all very healthy!

Hi ladies thanks so much for your replies! Sounds promising and I'm sure they wouldn't sell them if they were bad for you although I'm very naive

@IfeelFloopy how long have you been taking them now? Good luck and let me know if you manage to conceive!

@Smurf123 so sorry to hear about your MCs - I've also had two so know how devastating it is. How long have you been on them?

@NaturWilde That's fantastic! and reassuring. How wonderful, hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy Smile

For anyone interested I'll keep updating! Although I'm not expecting anything to happen this month. Been trying for over a year though, so you never know!

You're good with just regular folic acid. Everything else is usually not needed and some can include vitamins that can contribute towards problems. I stopped all other vitamins bar folic acid and vitamin D.

MouseLove · 11/07/2017 18:20

Sorry pressed post before I finished.

The NHS and uk medical studies support the use of folic acid and vitamin d only, the other vitamins and supplements are not proven to improve fertility or help with pregnancy defects.

Hope that helps.

HoisinSource · 11/07/2017 21:14

Thanks @MouseLove, the seven seas one have folic acid and vitamin D plus various others, I'll give them a try for a few months and see what happens! I've got plain folic acid and Vit D anyway so depending on how I get on I can always go back for those.

I took them for a month, stopped as they made me really bloated.

Smurf123 · 16/07/2017 21:35

Hi I don't suppose anyone still has the box for these and can tell me does it have vitamin k in it? Please and thank you Smile

cannonball8726 · 16/07/2017 22:03

They make me a bit constipated! Going to switch to other conception vitamins when this pack has finished...

Carley27 · 17/07/2017 14:24

I took these when TTC - got pregnant on cycle 3.

They're small and gave me no side effects so I was happy with them.

ForeverHopeful21 · 17/07/2017 17:31

I really like them. Initially I was really bloated and constipated but my body got used to them after a few weeks (I always take them with a full glass of fresh orange juice now). I've been taking them for 6 months, gives me piece of mind that I've providing my body with the best chance x

MouseLove · 17/07/2017 18:55

Smurf.... the exact reason I won't take combi pills. Vitamin k is a real nasty one.

Smurf123 · 17/07/2017 19:25

Mouse do you know if there is vitamin k in these ones? I've thrown out the box... I have just got pregnacare but realised before I took any it has vitamin k but I am on baby aspirin and don't want to take vitamin k when I'm taking aspirin :-/

cannonball8726 · 17/07/2017 19:41

What's the issue with vitamin K? And aspirin and vitamin K in particular?

ForeverHopeful21 · 17/07/2017 20:21

There is no vitamin K in the Seven Seas Trying for a Baby

MouseLove · 17/07/2017 22:24

Vitamin K can counteract the effects of aspirin. And there are unsupported links to miscarriages being higher, while it's unsupported I don't want to take any risks.

The NHS only support folic acid and vitamin d to be taken when TTC and pregnant.

ForeverHopeful21 · 18/07/2017 07:36

MouseLove I didn't know that.
When I was pregnant (ended in MC) my midwife recommended Pregnecare - which contains vitamin K. I actually didn't like it so only took folic acid and vitamin d, but that's very worrying.
