Long cycles after coming off the pill

I came off the pill in February and my first cycle was 35 days- I was just pleased by periods returned after being on the pill for years. My next cycle was 38 days and since then the following two were 33 days so I was really hoping they had settled into a pattern.

I have just taken an OPK and it looks as though I am ovulating today on CD25 so that means my cycle is all over the place!

How long did it take you to settle back into a regular cycle after coming off the pill? Is this normal or something I should be concerned about?

Hiya, I came off my pill in march and I'm sort of having the opposite problem - my cycles are shorter. First one was 24 days, then 25 etc when they've always been 28. I came off my pill last 4 years ago to try for our now 3 year old and had no problems so I'm not sure why this time I'm all over the place?! Xx

It's totally normal for our bodies to take a while to adjust to not having synthetic hormones anymore - I was advised give it 6 months before worrying.

I'm right there with you though, and it's so frustrating!

I'm in the same boat here too. My first cycle post pill was 40 days and I am currently on CD20 this cycle. I'm not using OPK yet so not sure when ovulation is, apart from checking CM, which hasn't been very forthcoming so far this month. Just hedging my bets by DTD every couple of days. Fingers crossed it settles down for us all soon.

Thank you- I took this OPK today after having lots of EWCM yesterday and the day before- do you think it's positive?

Annoyingly DH is working away for the next few days so can't DTD! We did DTD yesterday and the day before so maybe that will be within the fertile days?

I'm not an expert in OPKs as I've never actually done one but from what I've heard/read that definitely looks positive to me! Xx

McTufty · 28/06/2017 17:33

That's positive Drupie!

If you ovulate 12-24 hours after the LH surge, then you'll probably ovulate today or tomorrow. Usually 5 days before ovulation is fertile window so yes, you are in the game this month!

Thank you its so frustrating that he isn't here to DTD when I've actually got a positive! Let's hope yesterday's efforts pay off, fingers crossed.

Yup. Came off in Jan. I had 2 35 day cycles, a 42, and am now on CD 58. No positive test yet. It is a pain in the arse.

I was on the pill for over 10 years. Stopped in December. First cycle was 78 days, 2nd was 65 and 3rd was 48 days. Prior to the pill i was very regular every 28 days so I'm hoping I'll be back to normal either next cycle or the one after. Very frustrating not knowing when to expect AF. We're not actively TTC at the moment, things are not good between DH and I so I'm just plodding along at the moment.

Can anyone help? I’m new to Mums-net. I came off pill 5 months ago after having been on it (microgynon) for 20 years. Trying to get pregnant now and my cycles are very long with very light bleeding - range from 48 to 37 to 40 days - I’m worried it may be too late for me (I’m 38 and only just married last July!) Should I be worried it’s not been 6 months since coming off pill...help! Hope it’s not too late for me :-(
