Despite being told to "relax" (I've had every test known to man) and "I'm still young at 35"....this offers me absolutely no comfort.

Is anyone else in this situation, and if so, any advice on coping strategies? Me and my poor husband have cut out alcohol, caffeine, basically everything that could possibly have an impact on our fertility. Our tests came back fine, however again, small consolation given we still are without child.

I did conceive Xmas 16, however had an early miscarriage sadly 😢

I would be concerned yes. Presumably they're considering fertility treatment for you?

Bluerose27 · 27/06/2017 19:19

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

After 2 years I'd be concerned I have to say. Not to patronise you, but are you sure you're timing things right? Are you taking your temperature each morning? Have you a fertility tracking app (kindara and fertility friend are good). Do you use opks?

sweetpeaSarah35 · 27/06/2017 19:31

Yes, I use OPKs, chart my BBT (although only for the last 6 months or so). The first 18 months we were trying on our own, so possibly could have missed ovulation etc. We also had a lot of stress which possibly contributed in that first 18 months.

It's so frustrating - you have all the tests which show everything is fine. Except, it doesn't happen for you. Why is that?

Considering IVF in the next couple of months - just really don't want to as I find the whole thing really invasive.

Yes, the clinic (I use a private one) have suggested IVF. However my acupuncturist is convinced it'll happen for us. I have very regular cycles and very good temperatures. No "obvious" reason for it not to happen for us! Aagggghhh

Is anyone else in the same situation (same age, same results, previous MC) - what did you do?

Thank you!

Did you TTC for a period first? And what age did you start IVf? (If you don't mind me asking)

Ivf is so common - I can see that - I just desperately wish I wasn't in this situation. It's so sad and there is nothing i can do about it, which makes it worse.

I had IVF aged 30 due to a multitude of issues.

I think IVF has been hyped up a bit in TV dramas and I found that whilst it wasn't the nicest experience of my life I didn't find it as bad as I was expecting and just kind of got on with it. I would definitely do it again if I had to but luckily I have some embryos stored so next time around will be much less invasive.

Now my DS is 9 months the whole IVF thing seems so long ago that I've pretty much forgotten about it until a post like this comes up to remind me.

All I'm trying to say is that it's not as bad as you think and is worth it in the end.

Steph999999 - did you go private or through the NHS?

OP posts:
Steph999999 · 27/06/2017 20:41

I got it through the NHS after TTC for 2 years. My GP sent me to a fertility consultant who diagnosed me with PCOS and did a lapaoscopy which showed a few things wrong with my tubes so while not out of the question that I could conceive naturally it would be pretty unlikely. So she recommended I find which was included on NHS. I just had to be over 30 age and under 30 BMI.

The IVF was still done at a private clinic but the NHS funded it. I have then had to pay privately to get my remaining embryos frozen.
