It's fair to say I'm finding the TTC ride and emotional and bumpy one (with no good reason as I am in very early days and haven't been through anything like some of the brave ladies on this board Flowers)

But I hate the waiting and can't stop stressing about if or when it will happen, and was wondering about going privately for a check up to see about my ovarian reserve and check for other potential problems. I figure it will either set my mind at ease, or if I do have an issue, I can deal with it without the agony of spending 12 months POAS first only to find out a problem I could have discovered now.

Is this a stupid idea? Has anyone ever done it? If anyone had any thoughts I'd love to hear them.

I don't think it's a stupid idea at all. It's a good idea to take control and know what's going on. fingers crossed they find a whole bunch (what's the collective noun anyway? A clutch??) of eggs!

Thanks dandan - I might give it a go then, as it's not cheap £250 but I think its worth it. DH will tell me not to be silly and it'll be fine but sadly I'm not very rational when it comes to TTC!

DH and I had the Fertility MOT at Create after a few months of unsuccessful TTC

It identified a sperm issue with him, and also that I had polycystic ovaries (but not PCOS)

I'm so glad we had it done when we did. Partly because we could have carried on for another year thinking we were just being unlucky, and also because the GP's first course of action after blood tests would have been clomid for me, which would have been disastrous given how many eggs I produce each month.

The one we had included a sperm analysis, AMH (egg reserve) blood test, ultrasound for me (transvaginal one which looked at my ovaries, womb lining etc) and about an hour with a fertility specialist to discuss cycles etc
It was pretty good value for what we got...

Thank you for sharing that sparechange, sounds like it was well worth it for you - I hope things have now improved for you and your DH on that front Flowers. I was looking at create as well as they have a clinic near me.
