most of you know my story but if you dont, here goes.... ttc ds for 6y then awful birth ending in a crash cs during which they put my bladder too low down. since then awful pain, group b strep in uterus and 3 confirmed mcs at between 6-9w and 2 more suspected mc and last month an ep which resulted in the removal of my left tube. what q's do i ask, what do i expect from the initial consultation, need help here!

Right I warn you up front that this is a complicated one - but I will try explain what I mean.

q. If we go for a given option and it fails will that preclude other treatments being possible/offered?

For example - if you opt to try and concieve naturally (if poss of course) and that pregnancy results in further damage to tubes/uterus and doesn't go to term will we still be able to look at other options such as IVF etc. I would hate for you to be pushed down a given route because it is easiest/cheapest for NHS - but not necessarily best/safest/best chance for nuturing a pregnancy once established for you IYSWIM.

Or if you opt for IVF and it fails as a result of another mc because they still havn't got to the bottom of that issue - will you be entitled to another cycle and in what timescale.

Hope you get answers that you can work around...good luck.

I second AttilaTM. I always leave appointments and when I am home all these things come to my mind that I should have asked. Actually, often when I report to a friend, they also ask a questions I had not even thought of. If you have a close friend who has a lot of knowledge (e.g. a mumsnetter) I would consider taking them as well. I personally find the questions that fellow-women ask more relevant than those my husband asks, but I don't mean to cut your DH off (and don't know if you perceive this as I do). Hes is obviosuly an integral part in this all.

well, the nurse was lovely. got loads of blood tests to be done, some on day 21 some on day 2. she also wants me to have an hsg. she was appalled at the standard of care i recieved and suggested off the record that if ivf is our only option we either lobby the nhs trust using our previous treatment as leverage or just out and out look for compo and use that to fund treatment. if i get pg naturally im to bypass my gp totally and contact the epu/fertility clinic immediately for a scan she also thinks i may benefit from extra folic acid and soluble asprin, but will wait for test results back.

thank you all for your help, was v prepared which helped loads
