How on earth do you check your cervix

The very thought of that makes me cringe but how do you do it? how do you know what your looking for?
I'm not really sure its for me but im intrigued!

If you're doing it for fertility check, I've found the mucus and temperature easier and more reliable.

I've not done it before just was curious to what it all means. Today it's high and no blood yay x
