36 day cycle then just 2 day AF - is this okay?

I am a little concerned that after regular 36 day cycles my AF lasts less than 2 full days?
Does anyone know if this is okay or is this a sign that something is wrong?

i had this then found out i was pregnant...i had a late implantation bleed.

MoseGirl · 28/06/2004 17:08

I wish this were the case but this is how its been since I started TTC after coming off the pill

busybee123 · 28/06/2004 17:10

what were they like before you went on the pill before?

Staceyk · 28/06/2004 17:15

Mosegirl
I came off the pill in ttc Jan 2003 and didn't have Af's at all! Docs gave me Progestrone to bring on Af, I have only had natural AF on my own, March 2004 and May 2004. So I really wouldn't worry about your 36 day cycle. When did you come off the pill? Various web sites and doctors do say it can take up to 2 years for cycles to get back to normal after the pill! Not much help I know, you are talking to someone who has been ttc#1 for 18 months

MoseGirl · 28/06/2004 18:06

Busybee, I had at least 4 days AF when I was on the pill.
Staceyk, I came of the pill in November last year.
Am I still able to get PG during this time if it takes so long for AF to get back to normal?

Sorry Mosegirl, I don't know if possible, think it depends on what the problem is, after I came off pill and no af's for so long, I had loads of blood tests and they decided I had PCOS, where hormones are all wrong, so I had too much testoserone, which can give you excess hair, spots etc, but meant my eggs were turning into cysts on my ovaries and not being released! Therefore docs said impossible to get pg. I still don't really know whats happening with my body, I have been on a drug called Metformin for 8 weeks, and that is meant to help regulate hormones, and I have had 2 af's all be it every other month! but that could simply be lining coming away, don't actually know if I am producing/releasing eggs or not. Have you spoken to a doctor?

MoseGirl · 28/06/2004 19:30

No, not yet. Well I have about TTC but not about this. My GP was not really interested until we have been trying for at least a year - it just sounds so long

OP posts:
Staceyk · 28/06/2004 19:34

Mosegirl Sadly that is the case with most docs. It's easy for them to say, but it's a very long year.
I think the fact you are having regular af's all be it short ones, is a very good sign, means your body doing what it is meant to. Wish mine did. Maybe it is just a matter of time?
Do you mind me asking is this ttc#1? and how old are you?

MoseGirl · 28/06/2004 20:03

Sure! I'm just 32 and its #1
Thought it would happen instantly - how wrong we were!
I guess you have a point, they are regular at least, sorry to hear you are going through it and worse than me.

When did your GP start to take action?

Morning mosegirl, I didn't go to my doctors until April 03 (4 months no af) as I was expecting it to take a while, but thought 4 months was too long, then from April til October the Gp tried giving me different tablets, then I got an appointment with the fertity doctor at local hospital, it was her who said PCOS, and put me on Metformin. I have a lap & dye booked for October!

do please try reflexology, ladies! gawd... i sound like a evangelist!

really, it is a powerful natural therapy that is so good at balancing the system, particularly the endocrine system. it has been known to have good results on PCOS.

or what about reiki?

best wishes
rosie

MoseGirl · 30/06/2004 15:39

Thanks Rosies, I am a fan of reflexology and have it fornightly (though I pay £25 not £35 per hour!)

Its been great for stress-relief and it seems my digestive system is the worse area.

Can this affect TTC??????

OP posts:
rosies · 03/07/2004 12:13

when you say your digestive system, is this something the reflexologist has picked up or you know about anyway? can you describe to me where on the foot you may feel sensitive areas... or is there harder skin on some areas?

when ttc, it is important to have a healthy balance diet. cut out caffeine, fizzy drinks and some teas (like earl grey, some green teas, assam), drink lots of water and take exercise.

let me know about your feet!

malinki · 03/07/2004 19:04

Rosies,
SO in your opinion, I have very hard skin on my heals and just below my big toes on both feet, it doesn't matter how much cocoa butter I massage into my feet, the skin craks down the outer side of my feet, my reflexologist said I was suffering with nasal congestion and never mentioned anything else even though I suffer with PCOS and Endometriosis. God I feel funny all of a sudden, CD 34 (always between 29-70 days), sorry got to go, I feel faint.

Staceyk · 03/07/2004 19:28

malinki Please let us know you are ok!

malinki · 04/07/2004 12:24

Sorry to rush off like that, i thought I was going to collapse, I started shaking and feeling sick like I needed something sweet. Really strange, then last night AF came, bright red blood (sorry especially if your having breakfast)and quite watery. Today I feel sick again, I must have a bug or something, I have never felt like I did yesterday, it was horrible, thanks for your concern

rosies · 04/07/2004 12:35

malinki,

without seeing and doing you , its very hard to say and also would be quite unprofessional. sometimes its not easy on a first treatment to suggest problems, as some things could quite simply be foot structure.

however... ok so you just told me that you have PCOS and endo... the reflex points for the ovaries, in mainstream reflexology, are on the outside of the foot between the ankle bone and base of foot (or thereabouts). i also believe ovary problems are quite often felt under the foot, near the heel. hard skin in areas can quite often indicate an imbalance or problem in that area that its sited on. hard skin on heels can also mean elimination problems, constipation perhaps. cracked heels can show pulling in many direction (on an emotional level).

as for your big toes... this is the throat/ neck. your thyroid is situated here. perhaps its under alot of strain? with PCOS, your endocrine system is out of balance and the glands can all have a knock on effect.

hth

let me know if you have any more questions

rosies · 04/07/2004 12:38

oooh poor you, malinki . take it easy and drink lots of water.

best wishes
rosie

malinki · 04/07/2004 13:17
