OK, so I took a home test last Friday after my period didn't arrive, it was negative.
Period still hasn't come and I've been feeling quite nauseous on and off throughout the day for the last few days.
I kept the original test due to not being able to subtly dispose of it (long story!) and looked at it again yesterday and there's a very very VERY faint positive line on it which I didn't notice at the time of testing. Could this be a positive which just took longer to show or is it completely irrelevant because it was left for so long? I'm going to pluck up the courage to do another one tomorrow u just really need some words of wisdom at the moment!

I think that particular test is irrelevant now, OP - could you get to a shop today and buy a new one?

Moonbear10 · 04/12/2016 14:28

I'm working today so the supermarkets will have closed by the time I leave, otherwise I would...

When tests are left sitting they often get a second line so ignore that one, it's meaningless. Test again and see.

Moonbear10 · 04/12/2016 15:07

OK, I'll ignore that then, and get another one tomorrow, several people have told me I should go to the doctor and get a test done there but that seems like wasting their time

Yes that's a complete waste of a GPs time, and any test they do won't be any more accurate than a home one.

Use first morning urine. I once read a line is a line no matter how long it took to show up as you need a certain hormone to make it appear.

Spam88 · 04/12/2016 15:51

Pharmacies normally offer testing if you'd rather not have a test to dispose of (presumably there's a charge though).

Moonbear10 · 04/12/2016 16:01

I used first morning urine when I took the test before, so I'll do the same with the next one.
As much as I don't want to have to sneakily dispose of the test, I can't imagine taking a pot of pee into town with me just to save me doing it Grin

Can I ask how old you are and why you'd need to sneakily dispose of a test? Are you still living with your parents? X

Moonbear10 · 04/12/2016 18:06

I'm 22, between living at home and staying with my fiancé until we've saved enough for a deposit.
Dont want to cause a stir by just putting it in the bin where everyone can see it (although much to my irritation it has been seen and not mentioned, but hey ho!)

Another negative test today, still no period.

Lower back is aching like nobody's business and has been for a while now, what's wrong with me? Gah
