Bleeding on cycle day 10

I'm so confused and have never had this before.

I'm on cycle day 10 and have just had some blood when wiping. It's bright red, definitely not old blood. My period typically lasts only 4 days and has been gone for a good 5/6 days so I'm sure it's not a remnant from that.
What else could it be?

We are ttc and have only so far had sex on Monday, cd8, and I took a opk yesterday which was negative. My cycle is typically 25 days long.
I have never ever ever before had bleeding mid cycle. I don't know if I should be concerned?

So, I went for the scan and here was nothing there. She said she could maybe see a tiny speck that could possibly be the start of something, but certainly not what she'd expect at 5 weeks.
They took blood and the hgc levels are 3 point something, what you'd expect from very early pregnancy, so they think that possibly the "period" I had 2 weeks ago was an actual period and I have actually manage do conceive, implant and have a positive pregnancy test in that space of time.

I didn't think that was possible but they seem to think it is.

The other possibility of course is that I did conceive last month, have miscarried but still have the hormones.

They are going to do more bloods on Wednesday, if they are higher, then that means it's option 1 (and I'm a bloody medical miracle!) but if lower then they think option 2.

So only time will tell. I be back to let you know.

Eminybob - the most likely thing is that you conceived two weeks ago and that you have a retroverted uterus (very common) and that is the reason they can't see it yet. With a retroverted uterus, it is easy to measure 2 weeks behind up til 12 weeks when the uterus rights itself.

I have a retroverted uterus, and have had many early scans. With my dd, I had a scan at 7 weeks and they could see possibly something but were not sure, just like you had yesterday. Two weeks later they could see but measured 2 weeks behind (which I knew was not possible), then at 12 weeks measured exactly correct for dates (which was a few days ahead due to me ovulating early as having short cycles.)

The blood measures you said don't make sense. Less than 5 is considered not pregnant, more than 25 is considered pregnant. So they must have given you the wrong figures I think. And yes you are correct in saying that it would be impossible to see something on the screen if your period was 2 weeks ago..... Strange thing to say.

Anyway I hope that the blood tests they do next show an increase and confirm your pregnancy is going well.

Sorry correction to what I said above, I did not mean to assume you conceived two weeks ago, it could have been more than that! I was meant to type that you are measuring two weeks behind dates.

See misdiagnosedmiscarriages.com website for more information. But be warned it will give you lots of hope that things are going well.

Thanks. Just had 2nd set of bloods. First were 349 so I must have misheard her on Monday. They are going to call with results later today.

Just had a thought about what you said. Before I had my son I had a missed miscarriage. Scanned at 8 weeks, measured me at 5, then rescanned a week later no growth so diagnosed missed misscariage and had medical management. I never had any bloods I don't think.
If I have a retroverted uterus could this have been misdiagnosed?
I went on to have my son, I didn't have a scan until 12 weeks with him and everything was normal.

Hcg has increased to 5 hundred and something so that is good news. Got another scan on 13th but in the mean time i am feeling positive!

Ah Eminy that could be good news; all the best and keep us updated.

willitbe · 06/12/2016 10:38

Eminybob - that is great news about the levels increasing as they should.

Regarding your previous missed miscarriage, with two scans a week apart with no growth and behind dates, does fairly much confirm the diagnosis. The lack of growth would be significant. The blood tests are only done til a scan can see something.

Keep up the positive thinking for your current pregnancy.

Any updates!?!

Ok, so I realise that I'm about 3 years too late for this post but I could have written it word for word and was wondering what the outcome was if OP still checks here?
