Positive test but too early to tell?

I've not really been feeling myself for the past week, really really sore breasts, slight nausea, constipation (which is really rare for me), horrible taste in my mouth, so I took a pregnancy test (two days in a row) and both have come back positive, the only problem is that it is too early to tell I've realised after reading up online, I can only be about three weeks and it's a week before my next period is due. As we are ttc I'm worried about telling my partner or getting my hopes up, I'll attach the pregnancy tests photos to make sure.
Also another factor is I've just started taking Amitriptyline, I took it for a few days stopped for a week as I felt I'll and took it again a few days this week. I'm worried this is all false hope, I've stopped taking it again after a few days use.

Try not to worry too much as I'm sure it's nothing serious. You are definitely pregnant judging by the tests. You may be someone who produces lots of hcg at the start. I hardly produce any till I'm. About 8 weeks so my tests have always been really really faint till 6/7 weeks. Some women however have mega strong positives at 4 weeks so you could be one of these ladies. Good luck hunni and pleas keep us posted xxxx

So small update! I popped to Tesco and my local corner shop but they only had the test I had already used and a cheaper brand, I thought as it would a different batch i would try it and I went for the cheaper one too, I just got home and I risked one of the cheaper ones (as obviously it's not a morning pee so heavily diluted) and again it's a strong positive, this makes me believe more so that it might be the tablets as surely it would be faint? I'm so impatient and it all I can think about still! Sorry to bug you all again!

I was on ami when we were TTC & the only time I got a positive was when I was Pregnant. Hope you get some answers soon!

You're the first person I've found that has been so far and that helps thank you. I think it may be a case of disbelief maybe and thank you Flowers

I've got EDS3 & was on it for about 2 years before I fell pregnant so there was a good amount in my system too. Just to say tho I was told to stop taking it when I was preggo

Good old Amazon delivered me the week indicator test and it's come back 2-3 weeks so it looks like I am! Partner still isn't home but I will tell him and keep everything crossed that this is actually it!

You are Def pregnant hun amd I'd say further along than you think xx

I've never heard that amitriptyline can cause false positive pregnancy tests. I am a mental health nurse and my patientson use this drug.

I'm more concerned with you using it on and off as you are suppost to titrate and reduce the drug rather than just on and off. OP if your worried about your mental state through depression then the best antidepressant for a pregnant woman is Paraoxetine as it doesn't transfer to produced milk or fetus.

Make sure that you get yourself a doctor appointment on Monday, if it would help go to the doctors & explain that you will wait.

As for the strong lines, you could have a multiple pregnancy or just have a high level of the pregnancy hormone in your body xx

I got a positive test at 3 weeks of pregnancy. Congrats 😊.

Thank you Amy but I'm using it for fibromyalgia, although I have got a history with mental health so that is helpful thank you I will speak to my doctor as it is a concern of mine. I only stopped after the first week due to me being really ill on it as well as that I struggled with my mood and it was affecting my work even after a few days. I started up again this week to give it another chance but as soon as I got a positive test I stopped. I know my usage was reckless but it's incredibly hard to see a doctor here most of the time it's a months wait & there's strict lines on what they consider an emergency to get a day appointment as that wasn't it. I actually managed to get an appointment for this sooner than I was offered my next catch up appointment for my meds and there were two weeks between them! It's really helpful to get a professional insight on it SmileFlowers

Any updates op ???

whycanineverthinkofausername · 09/11/2016 13:31

I phoned the doctor on Monday and he was incredibly rude and unconcerned, he told me 'I might be' and just to stop taking the tablets. It felt like I was just wasting his time! I've had sickness this week and no sign of period yet so I'm presuming I am, I kept my booked appointment for the 21st so I can speak to a doctor who may actually be a little more kinder and helpful. I ended up telling my partner as he is over the moon and I've told my mum just in case anything does happen/ or I'm not for the support as my partner works away. I don't know what I expected to happen, but I expected everything to slightly more clear! Thank you for thinking of me Flowers

What an awful doctor 😡

If it's any help at all I was also on ami when I fell pregnant with ds, I had been on it for 2 years or so and the only positive test was when I was expecting. Congratulations and I'm sorry to hear your area seems to be lacking in the GP department 😟

Horsegirl1 · 09/11/2016 20:48

What a rude doctor. I really think you should complain to the practise manager and explain how he made you feel. He could have at least been sympathetic and offered some re assurance . I'D certainly be making a phone call to the practise manager highlighting his manner and how he mad you feel. I'm so happy for you op and I'm sure all will be fine xx
