What are the advantages and disadvanteges of using the 2 methods for spotting one's ovulaton?

I charted for 2 months (got pg second month) and it gave me so much info, definately more than the OPKs that I was using before. Once you have a thermometer, charting is very cheap whereas the OPKs got very expensive. Also, charting does give you a clue that you actually conceived (if your temp stays up after ov).

I never had much success with temping - my chart was described as "Rocky Mountain" - and so my personal preference is for OPKs. Having said that I have failed to get pregnant for #2, and so am not the best person to give advice! I don't think you have much to lose by charting, and it can give an invaluable insight into your whole cycle - it could also indicate when to use an OPK to minimise the expense. Monitoring other aspects such as cervical mucus is another indicator. Best of luck!
