After being to the GP and having tests and spermcount done, I was reffered to a doctor to check my tubes. Sadly the appointment is due in August. Luckily I have the possibility to go abroad and have my further checks done there. Do u think I should go directly for a laparoscopy in order to save time & money instead of having my tubes checked by any other method?

After trying for nearly 18mths and my DH being checked out I had a laparoscopy and hysterscopy - they said nothing significant was found but the Dr said he put two lots of the dye through my tubes as he thought it ran a little slowly the first time - although he didn't see any blockages. I fell 3mths later. Before the procedure the Dr said there was no medical reason why such a procedure would help me fall but that anecdotally it seemed to help sometimes. The procedure was just a day thing and I hobbled around for a couple of days afterward which wasn't too bad and obviously I am really pleased I went for it and would recommend it. Good Luck.

As for the dye I have heard that sometimes this procedure actually sometimes helps unblocking small blockages. Yeah I've been concidering having a laparoscopy...and not wait for the checks on the NHS which i suppose will take up to an year.......

Do you know the diameter of a fallopian tube?

Well, no advise about laparoscopy but I think if we had waited to be refered/seen by a ginevologis in the UK we would be still wondering why we couldn't have babies. We went abroad but was primarily becauwse I wanted to be treated by my old dermatologist.

ChickPea, no, I do not know the diameter of a fallopian tube. But if u have in mind what I said about the dye and the unblocking, please notice that I do not say that this is the procedure of unblocking. It can happen during the procedure of taking picture while the dye is going through the tube, but this is a diagnostoc method.

Teodora, sorry for delay: the fallopian tube is the thickness of a human hair. Isn't that amazing?!
