How much Vit B6 should I take for short luteal phase?

Have read on here that some of you have had success in increasing your luteal phase using b6. I've ordered some, as I'm currently getting about 9 days I think, but not sure what the plan should be. I've read 50mg somewhere, but is that all cycle, or should I drop it/increase it post ovulation? Any advice most welcome.
(P.S dunno if it makes any difference but I'm type 2 diabetic & on Metformin & Insulin)

vitamin b6 100-200mg per day but it takes around 6 months to work is what I've heard, I am doing charting and then starting progesterone treatments

I take vitamin B complex that includes 400mg of Folic acid. After about 2 months I noticed that the variation in my periods had stabilised - and it has stayed that way. I take it every day in the morning with my morning meds (I'm on medication for high blood pressure tho not diabetic).

Happy to talk more

Thanks u two. I take 500mg Folic Acid pill every day (my diabetic specialist reckons new research has shown that 400mg isn't enough for diabetic's ttc so they prescribed these). Have ordered b6 pills but they're 10mg pills, shoulda checked dose needed before ordering, don't fancy having to take 10-20 of them a day! Thanks for the info.

Hey Lisa,

I have read that vitamin B6 can be taken in doses of between 50mg and 200mg to help with luteal phase defect. If you're taking a multivitamin that will have B6 in it already, so just make up the difference with your B6 tablets.

I got an extension of 1-2 days on my luteal phase with 50mg of B6, so I recommend you start off with that and increase the dose after a couple of months.

Also Vitamin B6 works better when taken with the other B vitamins, so if you're not taking a multi-vitamin, it would help to take a Vitamin B-Complex supplement (at standard daily dose according to the packaging). Again, see how much B6 that provides and supplement with your B6 tablets to achieve the required dose.

Hope this helps!

Hugs,
Artoo.

I just re-checked what I'm taking, and I'm on 100mg daily, not 50mg like I thought
