Questions about luteal phases

Hi all
New one here. Am doing my first month of FAM method and have had a temp drop after 8 days of post-ov.
So I have a few questions.

  1. Does this mean I have a short luteal phase?
  2. Is it static or could it be longer next month? I already have a DS of nearly 3(used OPK sticks then), so was hoping someone would be able to help. Have been lurking until now and it seems like there is a close community on this board, so shall pop in from time to time to add/receive support. Lots of baby dust to all.

This is great that you are posting this message because I have a similar question about luteal phases. I truly cannot answer your question but they say that it takes roughly around three months to really know your cycle. How long are you suppose to peak for?? This is my first month testing as well and I didn't even get a peak until day 22 of my 28 day cycle so I will keep my eyes on this thread for hopes of some info!! Good luck to you in testing!

Hi Poshpaws - welcome to the TTC thread
Sometimes, if you conceive, you can get a temperature drop 7-10 days post-ov which could indicate implantation of a fertilised egg. It doesn't always mean this (been there etc.) but I hope the news will be good for you. A short luteal phase is often less than 10 days from when you ovulate to the first day of your period (red blood). So if your period (af) has not come yet then it is a good sign that your luteal phase is long enough to sustain a pregnancy. Oh and don't lurk, the more the merrier. Some of us have been on this board a while now which is why we seem to know each other quite well but new people always welcome!

Melliek, a short luteal phase seems to be relevant for you if you only have 6 days between ovulation and period. I know there are others on this thread that suffer from this so hopefully they can give you more advice on this as it is treatable and there have been some success stories in recent months.

Thanks very much for your advice and the welcome.

AF not here yet, but trying not to get my hopes up. Temp has climbed again, though.
