Well, I had fsh and lh and estradiol bloodwork done months ago and they came back great I'm 38 and doctor says bloodwork is like a 25 year old, plenty of good eggs. Now here is the problem I am having early bleeding, I start heavy spotting or bleeding 10 days after ovulation and then stop and then start my period on the 25th day of cycle, so he wants me to start charting temperature before getting out of bed for 30 days to see when to test my progesterone level to see if it's low since periods are a bit chaotic, am I allowed to sit up or should I put thermometer on nightstand and he said absolutely don't stand up or it's no use for that day he says. Ok, here's another thing, dh had sperm test 6 months ago, was fine, doctor wants to retest cause I"m not pg yet and he says "no". DH says he has enough pressure and for me to get my progesterone straightened out first and then if I'm not pg then he will get another test. He's very bashful and he's getting tired of the whole hormonal mood swinging mess with me, it's really stressing our relationship!

DO you have a copy of your bloodwork results; can you recall what they are?. Were your LH and FSH levels the same or was one higher than the other?.

Your progesterone was not measured via the blood tests?. Shocking, this should have been done. It would give a more accurate result than to just ask you to take your temp daily; that can stress a person out in its own right. Charting can also bring with it its own set of problems; it is not infallible.

It sounds like this GP does not know what is wrong at all and is clutching at straws.

Bleeding between periods is not right and the cause of same needs to be established. Its often not serious but this should be checked out medically by a gynae.

Many gynaes take not notice of temp charts anyway primarily because they are so unreliable. If you are bleeding between periods as well then I fail to see what if any benefit charting will have.

The results of any tests done over six months ago should be discounted. You need up to date test results.

I would insist on a referral to a gynae as a matter of course. If you're over 35 and have been ttc for six months plus then a referral request can be made.

Thanks so much for your advice, I think my gynae needs to get up to date and dh will not go for another swimmer count until I am straightened out, he thinks it's a waste of time, who knows. I guess I should get a referral and move to another more aggressive doctor.
