I have had 5 m/c's and 6 losses. All in the last two years.
I have undergone numerous tests including all the blood test for me and DH. This concluded that my blood wa too thick and therefore prescribed baby aspirin and two daily injections of heparin upon conception.
I still m/c a further two times.
During last pregnacy scan I was found to have two fibroids and scar tissue. A HSG test done (pump dye into uterus and take xray pictures). This concluded distorted uterus, fibroids and scar tissue. I was then told I would need a therapeutic hysteroscopy (camera/cutting gear thru uterus under general anaesthetic) to correct uterus and remove fibroids and scar tissue. before they would concsider op I was told to loose weight. I did and still am.
I had an operative hysteroscopy last thursday(camera into uterus and photos of uterus and fallopian tubes done) Conclusion.... I have tiny kink in utuerus, fibroids and scar tissue so insignificant the consultant doing tests stated that it would be more harmful to operate. She states this detection is not the cause of my m/c's and that it must be else where.... She is not recommending surgery. Should I be happy or even releived?
But where is the problem? What other tests can they do? Have I reached the end of this journey?
Is anyone else out there going thru or has been thru this?
I really need to hear from you..
I hope someone out there can help.

Hi oinker, hope I have logged in on time to catch you... Really hope the appointment goes well... thinking of you and wishing you all the best.. XX

oinker · 17/01/2007 17:33

Well...That's it...Done.

I had my appointment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with me. There will not be an operation.
She suggested that I carry on with my diet and loose as much weight as possible as this could be a factor. They expect me back by the end of June slimmer but pregnant. I will have to still do the heparin and aspirin when I get pregnant. I will do it as I have nothing to loose other than the weight. If that fails then at least I can say I have done everything possible.

Thanks for all the support throughout this past week. I really do appreciate it.

Hi oinker

I know it is hard when you are looking for answers, but it really is good news.. If there is nothing wrong with you, there is no reason why you will not be able to catch without M/C next time.

I have been looking desperately for something to be wrong with me, I am currently on the theory of having a hormone imbalance.. I phoned my normal consultant with that today. He is on holiday and blatantly does not want to speak until I get pregnant again. But I have been referred to the fertility clinic again, as I am not as confident that will get pregnant. A scan showed PCO and ovulation issues and had fertility issues when trying for Bertie.

But if you have found someone that you trust and can go with their diagnose that is great. I think that's what I need to be honest... trust in someone.

I'm really pleased for you. Will you still be logging on? You said you are not going to TTC for a few months.

Take Care XX

That's good news then Oinker sorry to keep popping in on this thread, but I just thought I'd share another friends experience recently, who had two miscarriages then she took a course of acupuncture and 2 months after completing it, she's now 9 weeks pregnant again and awaiting her early scan, she's previously miscarried at 8, and the person doing the needles said her system wasn't working well enought to sustain pregnancy the two previous times, etc etc, so might be worth a look if no ones tried it?

Hi Oinker,
I'm glad that the consultant has believes that the next time you see her you will be pregnant. It's hard when you are not given a reason, but you will juswt have to believe in what the consultation has said as she will have seen hundreds of women similar and I'm sure she wouldn't give you false hope. The fact that she has said that loosing some weight may help the situation then there is something that you can focus on that may help the situation and give you more incentive to loose weight which will probably make you feel better in itself as well.
Frisbe - that is interesting and positive about your friend - I am having my first acupuncture consultation and session tomorrow morning. Even though I have been given no reason for my 3 mc's I have this feeling that something isn't quite working right in there, so hoping that acupuncture is going to help.
Rahrah - this Lesley Reagan book, what is it actually about - does it give you positive ways to prevent mc or does it just give you some reasons for it?? I am considering getting it but it is so easy to get obsessive with looking things up and I have only just got my head around the fact that hopefully next time there won't be any problems and to just try and forget about the past and be positive.
Anyway, enough about me - good luck everyone, Oinker, I hope when you go back in the summer you will be having a sucessful and healthy pregnancy.

oinker · 18/01/2007 12:02

I am thinking of accupuncture..
Where is the best place to find info about their sucess rates etc?

HI there - the book is an insight into M/C, gives you reasons and puts in to perspective, she has proved research into a majority not being down to a recurrent issue and gives you stat's and percentages. It's a good read if you are looking to put things into perspective, but at the same time it has lead to me self-diagnosing and phoning up my consultant again...

I have just phoned someone about reflexology, she has been recommended by the fertility clinic and is a midwife. Maybe you could contact your clinic Oinker and ask them if they have anyone.

heresfor2007 · 18/01/2007 14:37

From what I gather Oinker, acupuncture partly helps just by destressing and relaxing you. I have heard that it can be recommended by fertiliy clinics to encourage ovulation - but at the same time not heard anything linking it to ovulation in non ivf cases. I did start a thread a week a so ago about acupuncture and there was a lot of positive response from people who have used it. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow and what she says.
I think I am not going to get the Lesley Reagan book just yet. Hopefully there won't be any problems with my next pregnancy and I won't need to, but if I mc again then I don't know if I can just settle with the 'bad luck AGAIN' answer and will be looking for some more answers.
