Hi!

I'm going slightly insane.

Been TTC for 19 months, nasty ectopic 11 months ago. Would love to be pregnant. Recently had fertility screenings and both came back fine.

Was due AF yesterday so thought I would try a test, only had ovulation sticks at home, it came out with a line...rushed to buy a hcg test and got what we hope is a very, very faint line also. I've taken the strip out of the container to squint at.

Just been out again to buy a clear blue digital to double check, but this says 'not pregnant'. So I guess I'm not?!

I feel crampy and confused. Can anyone else see a line, and if so what else could it be if not a positive?

So confused and desperate to know. I'm going to try again in the morning xx

Thank you for reading.

Hi everyone

I can't stop doing daily pregnancy tests!!!! I'm petrified it will be ectopic again. I know I shoukd relax but I was so very ill and heartbroken last time.

I realise I'm lucky to have positives, I really do. I've waited so long to see them, but how can I be sure?

My test looks darker today, which I hope is a good sign?? But the clear blue one this morning said 1-2 weeks, but I should be 4+4? Keep having sharp pains on just one side too.

I have an early scan in just under two weeks, fingers crossed.

Not sure what I'm asking really, just scared.

Ask your GP to start doing blood tests as EPU probably won't scan you until you're close to 6 weeks. I had regular blood tests to check my levels were rising properly. It's a good indication that the pregnancy is in the right place and helps keep you sane until you can have a scan.

Helloall1 · 26/02/2016 11:44

Bloods haven't been suggested, thank you. I will enquire about that.

My pregnancy tests are getting darker, is that a good sign?

My scan is 7/3

Getting darker is a great sign.

HazzaB89 · 26/02/2016 13:44

Getting darker is definitely a great sign. I've also had an ectopic and used the digital tests. They went from 1-2 to 2-3 to 3+ back to 2-3. I then started with the brown blood and had a scan which confirmed ectopic. Since then I have had my DD and am now almost 15 weeks pregnant. I also had pains on the same side as my ectopic with this pregnancy and got referred to the EPU at about 5 weeks. You need to call your GP and ask for a referal today. You may not get the scan until Monday but you will be a priority due to your history. (I found out that due to my previous ectopic that I can self refer myself to my local EPU without going through the GP, give your unit a call to see if you can do the same or if it needs to be a GP referal).

Helloall1 · 26/02/2016 13:55

Hi Hazza

Thank you for sharing and advising. And congratulations on being 15 weeks, that's beautiful news.

I tried to self refer myself (last week), but epu wouldn't let me and said GP must refer. So I called GP to ask for telephone appointment, they said would make me a direct appointment. Which they have, for not this Monday, next. GP said no point in having a scan prior as "won't see much".

I had no external bleeding at all with last ectopic, just extreme pain, fainting and shoulder tip pain. It's was all very quick!

I'll just have to stay positive that all is where it should be until scan day.

Thank you Flowers

That's the thing with GP's. Unless they have taken a specialist interest in pregnancy, they don't really know a hell of a lot about it! Generally speaking a pregnancy can be picked up via a transvaginal ultrasound at around 5 weeks. Even if they can not see the pregnancy for whatever reason, they should be able to tell if your uterus has thicke ned etc. Entirely up to you of course but if you are worried then I would request the scan be brought forward to this week coming. You can play up the 1 sided pain Wink

Lots of luck to you. I'm not sure if this is of any help, but my GP said that to have a 2nd ectopic on the same side is incredibly rare as the tube would be so damaged from the 1st ectopic. Now how true this is I do not know as the sonographer I saw at 5 weeks with this pregnancy said the pain I was experiencing was due to the fact that I ovulated from the side that I had my ectopic (expectant management, no surgery or injection needed as pregnancy started to fail naturally). Could maybe be the same reason for you?

Helloall1 · 27/02/2016 07:45

GP hadn't even referrer me to our local midwife, just booked me an early scan with a hospital miles away, where I was rushed to by ambulance last time.
I asked why I can't go to my local hosp and he said other one want to see me.

I had a scan at local hosp in Jan to check for cysts?!

Anyway, thank you for your advice. My last EP I ovulated from my right ovary and it attached to my left, which apparently is extremely rare.

The throbbing pain is my right ovary this time.

I'm just going to remain positive but realistic and hope all is well.

Good luck to everyone else Star
