I've been trying to conceive for a little under or maybe over a year now. I've been told I have POD and a misshapen uterus and it'll be particularly hard for me to conceive. I've not had a period since November but at the moment having tender breasts, constant need to urinate and feel fatigued. I've also had sickness over the past week. Last week I did a test and it was negative but it's in the back of my mind a lot, as you can imagine it's very frustrating and I'm losing hope more and more every day as to whether I will be able to conceive. I was just looking for a bit of advice as I'm at my limit and starting to pull into depression with this. Anybody in the same boat/ been in my situation?

What's pod?

Sorry I can't relate, maybe someone on the infertility board might? Sorry if that sounds harsh.

Hi- I don't have a pod uterus, mine is septated and tilted the wrong way.
It takes me a little while longer than normal to fall pregnant and increases the risk of miscarriage (I've had two miscarriages) but I also have had two healthy pregnancies. Because of the septum I wasn't able to give birth naturally as the baby couldn't turn around to head down.

Have you spoken to you GP or specialist about your struggle to get pregnant?
My uterus was only found to be 'funny' during my second c-section and is only visible when I'm pregnant. Looks normal any other time

Hello, yeah I've spoken to my GP about it. The severity of my POD makes me likely to get cancer if I do not have a hysterectomy however my wish of being a mother is too strong to give up like that. ( pod is polycystic ovary disease). My GP won't give me helpful advice on me trying to get pregnant because of this, she just told me to stay fit and avoid using contraception (obvious advice) so I haven't really had any helpful support, hence why I have turned to a forum where I may get some advice. Thanks for the replies x

Could you be asked to be referred to a specialist gynaecologist? For more information and advice?

ljvans · 21/02/2016 10:47

I have been to see one, I was meant to have an extension appointment in September last year but still haven't heard anything and have phoned since then and they won't tell me anything

Mango I would defo ask. The only other option would be to go private. GP's are awful. Sometimes if you don't mention trying to get pregnant they move you along faster.
Do you get any pain or unusual cramping during your cycles?
My main symptoms are heavy and prolonged periods lasting longer than 7 days sometimes, extremely painful period than interfere with my everyday activities.
I've not seen a gynie as its not really caused me so many problems, but I've since found out that the shape of my uterus can be corrected with minor surgery which my GP failed to tell me! It obviously depends on the shapes and severity of the abnormality you have as to whether it can be corrected or not.

Ljvans my friend has pod and was told the same advice as you. She did get pregnant after years of trying medical methods etc to aid conception. She eventually fell pregnant naturally at 40 which Drs couldn't believe, her little girl is 5 now. She's having her hysterectomy next month, they gave her this advice in her 20's.
Don't give up hun anything is possible

ljvans · 21/02/2016 12:36

I get intense pain in my stomach as the cysts have travelled further up my stomach which I'm supposed to be getting surgery for but haven't heard from the docs. It's so frustrating because I've been asking for advice from medical professionals and I feel like I've been told more here than I have for the past 3 years. I refuse to give up on my chances of having my own child which is what my doctors are currently telling me to do. I still don't have regular periods, usually about 2-5 in a year on average but I don't know, I just don't want to give up. Thank you all.
