Hi,

Just looking for anyone who is currently ttc as per the title.

My baby boy was born last year in July very prematurely and died shortly after. My DP and I are now thinking of starting TTC again and I plan to come off my pill at the end of March (waiting to avoid similar due date)

I couldn't find a thread for this so thought I would set one up and hopefully I'm not so alone in this journey and can offer support and be supportive to those going through something similar.

Hello ladies, I'd like to join you if I may! I'm not currently ttc but hope to be in the next few months! My son T was born via emergency c section in October at 36 weeks. I had a rare condition with my placenta called Vasa Preavia which was undiagnosed. When my waters broke, the blood vessel that was covering my cervix ruptured and T lost a catastrophic amount of blood. We got to spend 5 days with him in NICU before he sadly passed away. I know Sunny from a previous thread and she pointed me in this direction! my consultant has told me when I do become pregnant again that I will be prescribed the progesterone pessaries that some of you have already mentioned from 12 weeks to 32 weeks and also have extra scans at 16, 18 and 21 weeks to check my cervical length. I might ask for an early one to get a base length too. I'll also have a scan to specifically check for Vasa Preavia at 28 weeks although the likelihood of it happening again is very slim.
I'm here to cheerlead for the first few months as want to get to 6 months post c sect before starting to try again. Seacrown my son was also born on 16th October! How are you getting on this month? Nice to meet you all and sorry we are all here! Xx

Welcome Puggle, sorry to hear about your son - what a horrible shock for you.

GP was very sweet (she's lovely) and because I don't really fit any specific referral criteria, she's sending me to recurrent miscarriage clinic. I'm expecting bloods, a scan and for them to suggest aspirin from if when I get a BFP. There may be more involved, but as yet it's unclear.

Waves to puggle.

Chat how are you feeling about that outcome with the GP?

I think it's a way into the system and will reserve judgement until the appt comes through Wink. I'm pleased I wasn't fobbed off with guidelines and 'it'll probably happen', etc., but mostly I'd quite like to just be pregnant and the longer it goes on that I'm not, the more worried I get. So I'm pleased to be in the system.

Itsalwayssunny · 01/03/2016 22:07

Hopefully it won't take too long for your appointment to come through chat. I find the constant waiting for appts really doesn't help my anxiety.

How is everyone getting on? Hope you have all got through today ok. I for one am definitely glad the day is nearly over.

Didn't find Sunday too bad, to be honest Sunny. My mum came over and we have a lovely day just the two of us. Hope you managed to enjoy the weekend and it didn't get you down. Much harder was the invite to a needless present-grabbing naming day from an old friend who couldn't bring herself to send a message or card following our son's death. Shan't be going to that one.

Itsalwayssunny · 18/03/2016 18:32

Just thought I'd check in with you all.

My consultant has agreed to scan my cervix before 16 weeks so that's good but she won't prescribe the progesterone! I'm going to try and speak to another consultant and do some research to go bck to her with a good case for her to prescribe them.

In other news I've got my first period since coming off the pill so hoping I can now work out my cycles and fertile window a bit more for ttc

Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

Tentatively positive news here. My GP did say I'd probably be pregnant when the clinic referral came though - she was right. I'm keeping the appt just in case it all goes wrong but I can hopefully cancel.

Good to hear your cycles are back Sunny. First step done.

Itsalwayssunny · 19/03/2016 22:59

Chat, I am tentatively doing a very happy dance for you, any idea how many weeks yet?

ChatEnOeuf · 20/03/2016 06:23

Thank you. Very early days, probably 5+3 today. Going to be a long 7 months, hopefully.

Puggleface · 20/03/2016 10:40

chat a cautious happy congratulations! 😊 How are you feeling at the moment? Mentally and physically?
We are going to officially start TTC again this month, it's been 5 months since my c section with T now and I've spoken to my GP and my bereavement midwife who have both given me the green light. Extremely nervous but also tentatively excited, not sure what to expect!

Itsalwayssunny · 22/03/2016 19:41

How are you feeling Chat?

So if I get a bfp this next cycle I am likely to have a due date of christmas eve! Although I think the chances of me going to full term are small I am not sure how I feel about a date when potentionally the hospital will be short staffed but I don't want to hold off either. Does that make any sense to anyone!? I am not sure what to do so I guess I will just leave it to chance. I am starting to feel really nervous about being pregnant again as well.

OP posts:
ChatEnOeuf · 22/03/2016 23:34

Yes, don't hold off. Chances of a due date baby are pretty slim in anyone and I think we're more special than most. I've joined the November bus knowing full well baby would be coming in Oct if we get that far.

I'm doing okay thank you. DH reckons I'm wildly hormonal - though he risked his neck suggesting it! There's just the beginnings of morning nausea now, which is reassuring and familiar. Long may it continue.

Itsalwayssunny · 23/03/2016 06:44

Yeah that's what I am thinking, also keeping in mind that just because I was lucky and got pregnant quickly last time doesn't mean it will be the same this time round and in reality all I want irrespective of dates is a healthy baby in my arms.

Yay for nausea (never thought I'd say that) how do you feel about joining a bus? I'm not sure I will this time around. Please come back here any time you want as well to post.

(werk) and (seacrown) how are you doing? Hope that works I've never actually tagged someone before!

werk and seacrown how are you both?
