HI

I was speaking to a friend about ttc (the only person i have told) and she asked how often we are BD. As often as possible! I thought the more often we did it the more chance of getting the BFP. She was saying this is wrong and you should ony do it once every second day. (hear i though ttc was supposed to be fun) Does anyone know if this is right - I'm confused!!

Some people work on the every other day theory to increase sperm count. However, with both of my dc's we bd every day of my ovualation period and conceived the second month of trying. I wouldn't worry about it unless your dh has a low sperm count.

I heard that typically supply keeps up with demand! Enjoy

imreadyforababy - Personally, I think you should go for it as much as you can, it won't do any harm unless your man has a low sperm count. Lucky you for getting so much we manage every other day during my fertile time and 7 cycles later, no BFP, I would prefer to go for it as much as possible for the whole cycle and really give us the best chance! Hope you get your BFP soon

I read last night that it would take 6 ejaculations to empty the supply in the sacs anyway!

Now this is what i wanted to hear - as far as i am aware dh doesn't have a low sperm count but this is our first baby so his swimmers haven't done anything yet. Fingers crossed for BFP soon!!!

it's true that if your dh has a low sperm count, then having sex less regularly, i.e. every second or third day, can increase the supply. however, even if he doesn't have a low sperm count (and the only way of knowing this is by having a cemen analysis), getting pregnant is not an exact science. It can take the average couple up to a year to conceive, because there are lots of factors that come into play when trying to conceive. And even if you conceive first month with a first pregnancy doesn't mean the same will happen second time round etc. If you are having sex approx 3 times a week and have no fertility problems, then you will ultimately conceive, but if you've been ttc for a year, or 6 months if over 35, then you should seak medical advice.
