Hi this is my first post so sorry if it doesn't quite flow..

I conceived my first child quite quickly and naturally.. However my second took us over 18 months which was born via a planned csection. I have a very irregular period with anything from 35 to 65 day cycle. I chart my temp and use a clear blue fertility monitor, I find some months I won't ovulate. I know they won't give me clomide as its ttc3 and they wouldn't give it last time when I asked. I came across someone mentioning the online Oxford pharmacy, I'm thinking of going through them for a private prescription which you have to have a phone consultation for and give a progesterone test at day 21 to check. I'm really confused as I don't want another big gap and who's to say it will even happen. On the same note, as attractive as the opportunity is to get a helping hand I'm worried it won't be as controlled. I also got my hormone tests back today and they said their normal..which didn't help explain the long period and missed ovulation days..? Any replays would be much appreciated xx

I had no idea this existed and have just had a look and I'm definitely tempted, iv heard good things about Clomid too Hmm
Would be interested to see others opinions or reviews on the site itself actually Smile

Honeybeez1986 · 11/11/2015 07:16

Teaandcake79 I came across it on a thread briefly on here while trying to get some background in it. I don't know if I should mention it to the GPs?

Hi honey how much is it?
I know a lot of mn say no to online prescriptions as you never know what's in them or that you're dealing with a real dr but this sounds more legit than a lot of places.

There is of course an increased risk of multiples with clomid, would you be ok if you ended up with 2 more kids?
I'll be interested to hear how you get on and what you decide. We have been ttc #1 for 27 months and the NHS is failing us massively so expecting to resort to private in the new year, starting with clomid.

It will be interesting to hear how much it will cost you as I understand to go privately and have scans for monitoring etc it's about £400 for the 1st month. You could always get scanned yourself privately although j think the scan is about £150 which is a large portion of the £400. It's just the quality of the pills you receive?

Teaandcake79 · 11/11/2015 10:22

From what I read it looked like it was much, much cheaper. I think I would have to read some reviews from people that had used it before I tried it, although in times of frustration it does become very tempting! Smile

Not sure about mentioning to gp but then my gp isn't the most supportive so I wouldn't, might be worth it if you have a lovely gp that is going to give you good advice Grin

Honeybeez1986 · 11/11/2015 11:18

I think in total with the phone consultation with a gp, The clomide and 21 day progesterone test (which I phone and asked about because we wouldn't be getting a scan, she said this would be needed to test how the body is reacting to it and it's a simple prick test that you send back in the post) the total price was around 57 pounds. the doctor that is part of the website is mentioned in the guardian along with the pharmacey..

The thought of two is amazing but also quite scary. I suffer horrifically with sickness and was hospitalised the first time for about 5 months with it. It would be amazing to get two for one but the thought of sickness maybe being double?!
I feel guilty for being so demanding when I have 2ds, but the second time I was told it would t happen as my ovaries were sticking to my womb and I was so devastated. I just don't want to leave it so long again.. We haven't used any protection since and it hasn't happened number two so I feel it might be a long road ahead again.

It would be great to hear from anyone that has used it this way

This sounds great! Although definitely do your research. I also love the idea of twins! Although if I already had 2 think it would be scary, new car territory... Ha, but great to hear that wouldn't phase you! I'd love you to keep this thread updated if you decide to go ahead as my next appointment with nhs is in jan and depending on the outcome of that appointment will depend on whether I have to go privately and this is certainly a more attractive option than paying £400.
Best of luck with your research.

Teaandcake79 · 11/11/2015 20:31

Hmm I think I'll give it some thought, it does say that it's a registered pharmacy and all looks legit! Smile I'll probably end up giving it a bash actually because my gp is so unsupportive and disinterested it would be a lot quicker this way.

Although I think I'm probably being impatient, been ttc for 18 months but because I had a mc 7months ago I have to wait another 5 months for an nhs referral Sad

Vap0 · 11/11/2015 21:24

tea is that a standard thing? Sorry to hear about your mc. I had kind of decided not to tell my dr about mine but have been thinking that they aren't helping at all so what difference can it make? I had mine in Aug so would that mean I'd need to wait another 8 months after I see them in Jan to get any help? I'm back in the camp of not telling them and just telling them I'm not ovulating so I can get in the IVF list but also have clomid/femara in the waiting time.

I just don't understand how some people just get help and others all they get is being sent away. We are 27 months into the process of ttc #1 and It is driving me totally mad. We think private is our only option as the NHS just keep saying, go away and come back in 3/6/9 months depending on how they feel on the day....

Teaandcake79 · 11/11/2015 23:03

vap0 I think it's standard for my local pct to only refer or carry out more tests after 12 months ttc, but apparently they take that 12 months from the last pregnancy regardless of whether it was successful Sad I honestly would go in there and just tell them it's been over 12 months, I wish I had, although they would have seen my mc on medical notes! Have you tried changing gp practice? After my last appointment I think I may find a new one as he really wasn't as helpful as I would have liked! At one point he said 'So what are you actually asking me?' I was like erm... To try and find out why I can't bloody well get knocked up!?
I know what you mean about the frustration, some days I honestly think I might lose it out of pure anger and frustration, there such a lack of reliable info and support when ttc Sad

I was just having another look at this website and didn't realise that you could just have the day 21 test seperately as well, I think I might do that this month just out of interest as iv had a feeling it could be a progesterone problem, and it's only £25! Smile

Vap0 · 11/11/2015 23:23

Will your Drs not even give you a blood test?
I've managed to get one booked this month after mc (in August) by telling them I'm not ovulating after mc and I think they preferred to give me one over telephone appointment than actually have me come in and waste their time with an actual appointment.
My GP's are great actually, especially my most recent one who is young! Makes a massive change when someone of a similar age to you tells you what they think rather than a 60 year old dragon who has been worn down by 30 years of clipping oap's toe nails and drugging up hypochondriacs.
Its the fertility Drs at the hospital that are sh1t
I'm hoping my mc notes won't make it to the hospital and if they do I'll tell them i didn't know either way and just thought it could have been but never had any tests to say either way so think it was just a long cycle.
It's so crap!
My hospital Dr just sends me away all the time and has done for so long I can't even remember when I started seeing him, all I know is that seeing him is hell on earth not only is he a total ar*ehole but he does zero to help.
Rant over
But great to hear a blood test is only £25 as if they ever decline me in future I'll offer to pay for one.
I've just been reading the adoption threads which was our fall back option if IVF fails but it appears that it takes an average of 3 years to get a child Sad and I understand you have to have been out of the IVF loop for 12 months before being able to even apply. We may well be looking at a long and lonely life Sad

Honeybeez1986 · 12/11/2015 18:21

I am also very sorry to hear about your mc.. And the struggle you are facing.. It'd never made any easier with the nhs puting restrictions on how and when you can be put forward for treatments.

Could I suggest reflexology? I used this when they told me it was very likely it wouldn't happen on the recommendation from a few people in the same boat. I truly believe this helped wack my hormones into place with some natural help and it's so relaxing it could perhaps take a little of the edge off all the stress?

Teaandcake79 · 12/11/2015 19:30

I'm going to book an appointment and see if they will do the day 21 test, have a blood test recently that revealed a folic acid deficiency but I will be getting a copy of the results in order to look myself! Smile if they refuse to do it then I'll get it on that pharmacy site!

vap0 that's such a long time when there's so many children that would benefit from a stable, loving home! I guess once you get to see the fertility doctors you think your halfway there ...just to find out there useless!

honey I have looked at fertility massage actually, so I may look into reflexology, It would be nice to relax! Grin I do understand why the restrictions are in place, however I would have thought it wise to at least do the basic tests, because if something Is wrong all the regular sex, opks, vitamins etc in the world won't make a blind bit of difference. Just seems like a waste of time!
Are you planning of using the pharmacy then?

Honeybeez1986 · 13/11/2015 20:20

They are around 40 a session so not the cheapest.. But you can block book sometimes which can take it to 33 a session but really depends on the therapist. I would definitely go for the massage aswel, it's amazing what a bit of de-stress can do for you.

I've decided to go for it next month. I'm on 'high' on my monitor so I'm hoping I ovulate this month, A day or so before period is due, of kit successful then I'll book a consultant and hopefully be able to start on day two of my next cycle. I will let you know how I go ladies.. Baby dust ??
