Change in PMT since miscarriage - effect on conception ?

Not sure this is the right place to put this but...

Had an earlyish (6.5 weeks) m/c in July - no ERPC, all happened naturally. Bled for about a week and AF returned 6 weeks later - first 2 were (tmi) heavy and had clots, the following 2 have been 'normal'. However, since the m/c I have had different PMT symptoms and they have started much earlier and been 'worse' than ever before. Principally v. painful boobs and feeling down for about a week before AF due.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea of whether these changes could indicate a hormone problem which would prevent conception ? I know it is still relatively early days but have conceived fairly easily on 2 occasions and i know we have bd at the right time.

Would appreciate any thoughts/experience.... Thanks.

I don't think it would. My PMS was FAR worse after pregnancy and I've worked in a PMS clinic where I saw lots of women who'd found it got worse after having kids esp if they'd had PND. If you've been a bit stressed or down since the m/c that would exacerbate the PMS.

So sorry you're having a rough time, though. You could try taking agnus castus for it as it's fine if you're TTC.

Liath (picnikel that was).

I don't think it would prevent conception, but IME (4mcs) my cycle was all over the place and I ended up giving up on trying to keep track. Hormones are just hell at the best of times, let alone when you can't control them! Good luck though. xx

bum just typed a big reply and computer crashed so here goes again -

firstly - hello Liath !! I didn't realise you were you if that makes sense. Hope all is well with you ? Just the person I hoped would reply too (If i'd realised you were still around !)

Thanks too for your response Bramblina.

Funnily enough after dd my pms symptoms were better (non existent I would say) and tbh its more the sore boobs () that I find strange because I can never remember having this before. My cycle is pretty much as it was too.

I guess I was just worrying that I now had some strange hormone imbalance but guess I must just learn to be patient and realise it hasn't been long at all in the grand scheme of things....

Thanks again !

Good for you still sounding positive. All I was ever told was it can take up to a year for things to settle down so as long as you can be patient, you'll get there in the end. HTH

A year .... suddenly I don't feel so positive...

perhaps I'd better book a skiing holiday for the new year then ....

I had 2 mcs in consecutive cycles this summer, and had PMT for the first time ever before my first proper period after the second mc - attacks of irrational sobbing, the works. I didn't have it the second time (just waiting for the third), and my cycle seems to have settled down quickly.

I think it is fairly normal for hormones/cycles to still be in a bit of upheaval after mc. I think I'm pretty lucky - I've had three mcs and things usually seem to 'bounce back' with me - but it should straighten itself out eventually.

WHEELYbahhumBUG · 04/12/2006 22:39

thanks FIT - I just find it wierd that in every other respect it has returned to normal.... I guess I just have to accept I'll NEVER understand it !!

My Af has been wierd ever since my mc in March, It occasional comes on time, sometimes a few days early and once a few days late

I am also becoming much more moody too. Not sure what is going on really . Not sure of that is any help but seems to be normal that they may go a bit funny.

liatHoHoHo · 05/12/2006 15:39

Definitely book a ski holiday - you're bound to get pg the month before - sod's law!

Like your xmas name BTW!

WHEELYbahhumBUG · 05/12/2006 16:40

Thanks Cece - I guess its good to know I'm not the only one. Actually there must be something odd going on as my AF came exactly on time this month and I can't remember a time when I wasn't a few days late !! Just so frustrating... I want it NOOOOWWWW (stamps foot and lies on floor thumping the floor in toddler tantrum manner)

Actually started posting this about an hour ago but got distracted by dd but LIATH - Did I see your name in active convos against a 'due in April thread' ???? Congratulations - thats great news !! Am soooo pleased for you. How's E btw ?

E is gorgeous and hard work! Loving it, though - only working one day a week now. It's a lovely stage at the moment isn't it?

Yes, am up the spout again but having a bit of a crap time as potential problem on scan last week & poor bub might need bowel surgery straight after birth so am experiencing the NHS from the punter's point of view . Dd such a distraction it's hard to stay worried for long, though, bless her.

WHEELYbahhumBUG · 05/12/2006 17:26

Sorry to hear that Liath, what a worry - why can't things ever be simple ?? Will keep an eye out for news of you... Will be thinking of you all.

Glad E is keeping you on your toes though. I agree it is a lovely age, albeit hard work !!
