Hello all

I'm new to mumsnet and new(ish) to TTC. My partner and I started actively trying about 5 months ago, I've been calculating when my fertile days are likely to be but broadly we've just been regularly 'at it' (apologies, I'm sure there's an acronym for that, new to all this!!) so I'm fairly confident we've been catching my fertile days. My cycle is very regular and I'm due on today and did a PT which came out negative (after convincing myself I was having pregnancy symptoms, as we all do!), so have decided to 'up my game' - get advice and support, I've downloaded ovia, ordered some ovulation stick things and looking into other lifestyle things I can do (reduce caffiene and alcohol etc). Which is why I'm here I guess!

Being 35 I'm starting to get a little worried about my chances, and I'm the last girl in a couple of my friendship groups to start trying for kids, and pretty much every single one of them (even my friends in their late 30s/early 40s) seemed to conceive within the first month or two! I know you can't compare and that its normal to take a year or so (especially at this age) so I'm hoping finding a community of others in a similar boat or who have had success and have advice to offer might help!

Anyone else in a similar situ? Anyone got any tips? How long should you wait before heading to your docs to look into it more?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to chatting x

I came on to suggest you download Ovia as it helped us a lot this time round. I'm currently pg with DC3 and like many other lucky ones I fell first try with my first 2. However, 8 years later and a new DP and we were trying for almost a year. I went to doc earlier this year as I was worried there was something wrong with me as I was suffering extremely heavy and painful periods (could easily have been him as he has no dc already). Turned out when I went they done bloods and they showed 'unable to detect ovulation' despite me going on the correct day for the tests to be done accurately. However, we just went with it anyway and continued to try, having sex as often as possible but not making it a chore that we had to do on certain days - just when we felt like it. I'm now currently 18+3 and due in March.

What I'm basically trying to say is, just do the deed as often as you both want, try not to go longer than every 3rd day and it will hopefully happen for you's soon. I do recommend getting bloods checked at your go though as it turned out I wasn't rubella immune which I had to be immunised for and couldn't try to conceive for 3 months after immunisation. Good luck!
