So to my complete surprise I got a BFP this morning... Haven't had any signs really and have been more relaxed this month, didn't dtd as much either so really am shocked. Now I just don't know what to do with myself... I want to tell the whole world and then in the same breathe feel like I'm going to have a period at any moment. I am apparently 4+1! Grin posting on here as I feel like I want to shout it from the rooftops but can't!!

Congratulations!
In my part of the world you need to see your GP practice and make an appt with the community midwife. I believe this may vary in different parts of the country.

4 weeks is very early still, do you may want to hold off telling anyone who you wouldn't want to have to tell that something had gone wrong later IYSWIM. If you work in a potentially hazardous environment you might want to tell them (or a few people on a "need to know" basis) as they need to do a risk assessment on your work once they know you are pregnant.

4 weeks feels way too early to tell work. I don't want to tell anyone at the moment, I'm really anxious that something will go wrong! I'm sure this is a normal feeling though. Just hope the next few weeks go quickly!

Hi Jellybean, congratulations! I've got my BFP this morning too and, like you, I was way more relaxed about things this month and really wasn't expecting it!!

Feel really excited but really nervous. I don't think I can quite believe it actually!!

xx

Congratulations derby girl! How are you feeling xx

Thank you Jellybean. I'm scared! Scared something will happen and nervous about the whole pregnancy journey. But I also want to shout it from the rooftops and buy all the books I can lay my hands on!! xx

Book in with your midwife at your gp surgery. The sooner you book in the quicker you get on the system. You will then have a 'booking in' apt with your midwife at 9 weeks and your dating scan at 12 weeks. When I was pg with dd, my cousin fell at the same time and she didn't go to the doctors in till she'd missed 2 af's. She didn't get her dating scan until she was almost 15 weeks. I doesnt sound like much but 3 weeks is a lifetime when you are desperate to see your bubs! Plus it is good to have your pregnancy on your medical records just in case. Good luck and enjoy the roller coaster that being pregnant! Flowers

I'm getting all sorts of twinges in my stomach as well, which is freaking me out a bit to be honest!!! x

Jellybean100 · 11/10/2015 20:07

I'm getting exactly the same!! Convinced I'm gonna see a period when I go to toilet all the time lol

You are in the knicker checking stage. You will feel like you are about to start af. You will feel like this for the next couple of months every time af is due. You might also find ypu have lots of twinges and trapped wind. Ignore anyone who tells you that morning sickness is a sign of a healthy pg. You might get it, you might not. Your bubs will grow and flourish either way. You should only worry if you have sickness or sore boobs and then it disappears suddenly.

Derbygirl37 · 11/10/2015 20:45

Thanks Loki, that's reassuring to know. You're right about the twinges and trapped wind too!! So, do I make an appointment to see my doctor first and then they book me in with the midwife? xx

Jellybean100 · 12/10/2015 11:53

That's good to know, thanks! I've woken up and boobs even more sore today! God it feels like it's gonna be a long few weeks! Derby it tends to work like that in most areas unless u know a midwife or have a direct number to local midwives. It's not a necessity to see a GP but it tends to be the first port of call as they provide a direct link between u and midwife

I phoned the surgery and asked the receptionist. They made me an appointment to see the doctor because it was my first. Sometimes they just book you straight in to see the midwife. The doctor went through the list of foods to be avoided and calculated my edd based on my lmp. She congratulated me too which was lovely because I had to keep it a secret from everyone else!

Derbygirl37 · 12/10/2015 17:03

I've just come back from seeing my doctor for the first time since my BFP. She was actually really good. Because I've got type two diabetes, I've now got to check my blood sugar with a finger prick test three times a day and she's going to refer me to the hospital for consultant led care. She also wants me to see the midwife earlier than usual so I'm now booked in for my first midwife appointment on 28th October, when I'll be 6 weeks. It's all become a bit more real. But I'm still terrified about each little twinge and ache in my stomach!!! I probably got them all the time before I knew I was pregnant but, now I know, I'm super sensitive to them but it's driving me crazy!! xx

Jellybean100 · 12/10/2015 21:18

Ok Derby I have to get my butt in to gear then! I am type 1 diabetic. My blood sugars have been all over the place today and has driven me crazy!!
