hi,

I am 37 years old and ttc. I have 2dc aged 8 and 3years. I last had a period on 2 Sept and got a faint bfp on Friday, I then did a test on Saturday which was a bfp with a more noticeable line. I have been feeling pregnant, nausea. sore breasts etc. However unfortunately last night I started bleeding, red and pink blood about as heavy as a normal period. This is continuing today although not quite as heavy. I have done another test today which is still bfp but a slightly fainter line. Does this sound like a chemical pregnancy? :-( Has anyone had one and managed to have a healthy pregnancy afterwards? I am worrying that it is due to my age and maybe should stop ttc.

Hi - it does unfortunately sound like it could be a chemical pregnancy. So sorry as I know how awful this is. I had two last year and it so so cruel to get that positive test and the excitement that goes with it for it then to turn out like this. But I just wanted to say please don't think your too old at 37. I had my first at that age and it is certainly not old by any stretch of the imagination in childbearing terms. Chemical pregnancies are extremely common and a lot of women have them without even knowing as they are not actively TTC. It's just that when we are TTC we are so on the ball with the early result tests and this is the downside of them.

Do another pregnancy test in a couple of days. If it is definitely a chemical your period might just be a bit heavier but that is all. Give yourself a bit of tic and look after yourself. Wishing you all the best and lots of luck and babydust xx
