HSG test - did you take someone with you?

I know a few of you have had this test so wondered what your experience was? I'm due to have one in January and was recommended to bring my partner. My dilema is we have 2 young-ish children and need someone to get them from school so would really like my partner to get them and I would find my own way home, perhaps by taxi.
But, have heard it can be painful, emotional, etc, maybe I should try and arrange some other childcare (not an easy task actually!) and take him?
Think it would be easier to go on my own but would really appreciate your thoughts on this.
Thanks very much.

it was really straightforward for me

dh was with me but i would have been fine to get a cab home

no pain afterwards

good luck x

Im going for my HSG xray in Jan but childcare means that DH will have to pick them up from school, so i too will be going it alone, but i'm sure it'll be okay, just might mean one painkiller and early night! Good luck!

I started a thread on here a couple of months ago about having an HSG test as i was absolutely petrified. It was fine. I was on my own as my dp was at work. it was a little uncomfortable but not painful, i even walked home afterwards no problem( my home is approx 45 mins from hospital).

Thanks ladies. Do you think therefore that I could drive home myself? I think I have quite a high threshold of pain (did my second birth with no pain relief if that's anything to go by!!!) and will take a cocodamol (sp?) beforehand. Would be so much easier. Am also used to being prodded around down there (!) so don't think it should be too bad. I think I just need to bring my own pad as the hospital ones can be huge and disgusting, is there anything else you would recommend?
Thanks again.

Hi I'm due to have a HSG too. Although this is the 2nd month that I haven't been able to get an appointment. I think I will prob end up in Jan as my next AF is due a couple of days before Christmas & I doubt if they will have appointments then either.

I was given an information sheet about whats going to happen. It says that you should ensure that you have someone to take you home by car or taxi. Then in big bold writing 'You should not attempt to go home unescorted by public transport.'

So I think that as long as you are not driving or taking a bus should be ok .

Hope it all goes well for you.
