Just updated the Stats and there's loads of people testing 3-6th July so fingers crossed for more BFPs in the next few days

I've just got rid of my MIL, our water is being switched off for the day and I have three teenage nephews arriving for tea. Not sure that counts as fun or not...

Hi all, so an update from me. Me and DP had our appointment at the fertility clinic yesterday. Was not what I expected at all. So she went through our results of 21 day bloods and dp's sa and she said there is no problem there, needed an extra blood sample from me at 3 day in cycle (which lucky enough for us was exactly the right day to have it done) but she thinks that I am indeed ovulating. What shocked me the most is that she suggested going straight down the ivf route. I was expecting having to have tests to find the problem but no. She has sent us away to think about it but says whether we have tests or not the prognosis will always be the same Ivf. She said we meet the criteria for Ivf ie have no children already don't smoke etc. it's all a bit overwhelming really, don't get me wrong I feel very privileged to have that chance just never thought it would come to this Ivf. Guess I thought they would fix the problem. Never the less I'm happy that we are going to get the chance and hopefully get a baby.
Apologies for the essay just some wanted to know what happened at the clinic.

CarrotVan · 04/07/2015 09:56

That's a lot to take in Rachel. I think I would have expected a diagnosis of the issue too. Did they give a timeline for IVF? I don't know much about it

OP posts:
Rachelc82 · 04/07/2015 10:10

I asked that, she said they have to apply for funding on our behalf which she said there would be no problem as we meet the criteria. We go back in 3 weeks to give our decision. Then she said it could be as soon as 6-8 weeks till start our first cycle.

louwn · 04/07/2015 10:12

Wow Rachel I presumed there would be intermediate stages, maybe drugs etc first? How long have you been trying if you don't mind me asking?

CarrotVan · 04/07/2015 10:58

I would also have assumed intermediate stages but at least it sounds quite quick now you're in the system

Carrot - ha ha, sorry! No that doesn't sound like the best weekend. I hope you get 5 mins to yourself.

Rachel - wow, what a lot to take in. I think it's a good step though. It'll be frustrating not knowing what the "problem" is (I'd find it frustrating too), but hopefully getting on with IVF sooner rather than later will get you your BFP. How many IVF cycles do you get on the NHS where you are? Best of luck x

Rachelc82 · 04/07/2015 11:48

So she said that if ovulation is ok and dp's little men are all working ok. Then the problem points to blockage of tubes maybe. She said that even if investigations found that to be the cause they would not unblock them they would just offer IVF. I guess it's just saving nhs money bypassing investigations all of which to lead to IVF. Saving us time too I guess.
We have been this will be our 12 cycle of ttc. Also used ovulation test for 9 moths.
She looked how many cycles we get for our areas and we get 3 which is really good I'm lead to believe.
I'm glad some of you share that you also would feel the same not getting a diagnosis. I don't want to seem ungrateful because I'm very grateful for the opportunity I truly am. Just taken a back by it and I guess the reality that the problem is in fact me where we have not conceived. But in a positive note we should be glad there is still a chance we can have a baby. I guess at this point we will do what ever it takes to get our bfp.

ODog · 04/07/2015 12:32

Won't be having my coil removed until the end of the month now as several circumstances meant I had to move the appointment. See you in July ladies. Well, in the nicest possible way, hopefully not, as hopefully most of you will have got your BFPs and graduated to ante natal. Grin

FlatWhiteToGo · 04/07/2015 13:46

Rachel - that's amazing! My old NHS trust used to offer NO IVF on the NHS. I think it maybe now offers 1 go. I think most offer 1-2, so 3 is absolutely bloody amazing! Good luck x

Rachelc82 · 04/07/2015 15:28

Thanks flat. Still sinking in really. Really was not expecting that. I must be extra lucky where I live as well then. Thanks for all the kind words

Snowflake16 · 04/07/2015 16:47

Came back from the gym this morning to find AF has arrived 2 days early Sad I did feel some cramping but I thought I'd over done it on the Ab cruncher.
On the bright side because I'm only going 26-27 days lately I'll be testing again on the 31st so I'm not off the bus yet.

New stats 30 ttc#1 cycle 3 cd1 testing 31/7/15

CarrotVan · 04/07/2015 20:13

Well bugger, snowflake that sucks

Snowflake16 · 04/07/2015 20:43

DH and I are feeling down about it but we're trying to stay positive. Has ruined the weekend though

marmitemofo · 04/07/2015 21:45

sorry to hear AF got you snowflake Thanks

feerouge · 04/07/2015 22:24

Having the stepkids around this weekend so good time at the parc!

Just done another test and still negative. Although bleeding has been very light and pinkish yesterday and all day - it seems to be about to become normal AF now... i'm going to see tomorrow but i think it's just weird AF with 4 days delay!

Good luck to everyone - i will be back ;)

Southy84 · 05/07/2015 07:30

Congratulations marmite! Amazing news. Congrats again to you too lovely :)

raluca Ive started reflexology. I've only had one session so far, I've been recommended one session per month. I found it to be so relaxing, I initially had amazing temps, up until 3dpo when I had a slight dip, now it's below the cover line and I'm 6dpo. This may not be related to the reflexology- any suggestions welcome :) I'm going to stick with the reflexology though as it was so relaxing and want to give it a proper go. Some of the ladies on the other board I'm on have said its sorted their cycles out.

rachel that's fab news about the ivf, I've not heard of the offer of ivf straight away, but really good you have this option x

Sorry for AF snowflake Flowers

birchygoo · 05/07/2015 08:29

Hi all, I'm 7/8 dpo (I think 8, ff says 7 according to temps) but this morning I just had a massive temp drop of 2.8 - just sitting above cover line. does this mean af is on way Sad I normally have 13day LP.

was at work function yesterday and found out another of my colleagues is pregnant Sad.

CarrotVan · 05/07/2015 08:36

I don't really understand charting. birchy if you post your chart maybe someone who knows what they're talking about will show up.

8 DPO here (I think, am taking +OPK plus 1 as my starting point), back ache for three days, nausea the past couple of days, mood up and down...could be anything

OP posts:
CarrotVan · 05/07/2015 08:39

Actually FF says I'm 9dpo so add inability to count to the symptom list, also doing stupid things (put tea bag in mug cupboard rather than mug, wondered why tea not brewing properly...)

Morning all.

Carrot that's a heck of a weekend you've had!
Rachel that does sound frustrating not knowing, but also good that you aren't waiting around months to start IVF. Hope the much wanted pregnancy comes soon for you!

AF is due today for me, but not feeling anything. I did an Amazon cheapie test this morning, I THINK there was a very very faint line that I didn't see until 8mins or so, not sure. DH says there is no line, but I can't quite agree with him. Will have to test a few more times or until AF arrives I guess. Would just like to know one way or another!

Indomitable · 05/07/2015 11:19

ooh, that's interesting, sunshine. Can you post a picture? (I love a pee-stick pic)

CarrotVan · 05/07/2015 13:46

I'm seriously thinking of testing early at 10 DPO tomorrow. Talk me down people

OP posts:
sunshinemeg · 05/07/2015 14:24

Am I seeing things? AF due today but no sign, and I'm 11dpo I think.
