What does miscarriage look like?

I'm so sorry to be posting this, especially as it's aimed at those who may not want to think about it. I was wondering what your experiences of miscarriage have been like? I have had one before, very early on, and just experienced a heavy period with clots. Recently I suspected I was pregnant, but started bleeding after two weeks and there's some very strange tissue coming out. Not like anything I've ever seen before. I'm just wondering what in earth it is, and should I be worried? I guess I should consider going to the doctors, but hate bothering them unnecessarily. An advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry you are going through this. Mine was at 7+1 and was like a really light period with only 1 small clot and no cramps. Please go to your gp as they may want to do hcg tests to make sure your levels are dropping normally and continue dropping. The test will make sure nothing is left behind which may require a d&c.

Thanks for your reply EllaRoseMummy. I forgot to say, I was getting negative pregnancy tests, so I now assume I wasn't pregnant at all. I feel so down and confused. I'm worried that something was blocking my AF, and that this is what is coming out. But my partner thinks I'm in denial, and that deep down I know what it is - a miscarriage. But I don't know that because I have no idea what's going on. Do you still think I should go to the docs?

It sounds very similar to an early miscarriage that I had although I was testing positive by then. I think it sounds like you have been pregnant but, maybe because it wasn't working out, the levels weren't high enough to show up on tests and now you have miscarried.

Personally I wouldn't bother going to the doctors but I have had quite a few miscarriages and knew what was happening. Sorry for what you are going through.

I sometimes get periods where I pass clots and a strange thing that looks like bodily tissue -if that makes sense

GP says just one of those things but if I wasn't single I could quite easily have believed I was having a miscarriage

Thanks for your replies Nospringflower and 18yearstooold. I feel like I'm never going to know the truth now, so probably need to get over it and move on. Easier said than done though, huh? It's dreadful really, but what I saw was so shocking I took a pic on my phone. Goodness knows what I thought I was going to do with that! Please tell me I'm not the only one that's done this! Confused

I don't think you are unusual taking a picture - you obviously weren't sure what it was and a photo might be useful. Have you shown it to anyone close who could say what they thought?

Yes, I have now, to my mum. She convinced me to go to the doctors who have confirmed it was a miscarriage Nospringflower. Sad The good news is at least we know we can conceive. Smile
