I always used to have this dream when I was in my early twenties that because I have a diary free diet I would give birth to a 'jelly baby', i.e, my baby would have no bones and be a pile of jelly.

Ok, that's extreme but everywhere I read says I need to up my dairy intake. That's obviously not possible since I have an allergy but does anyone have any advice? There's only so much tuna and spinach a girl can eat.

Hi, I understand why you are a bit worried but dairy substitutes can still provide yiu with the nutrients you and your baby will need.
Soya and almond milk are both fortified with calcium and other vits.
I'm dairy free too and comforted myself with the fact many vegans have heakthy babies and also mothers from other cultures where milk isn't common in a diet.
Taking a prenatal vitamin and folic acid prior to conceiving will help prepare your body and having a balanced diet also. It may be worth visiting a nutritionist (your GP can recommend one) for more for ifIf advice. But on the whole there's enough other substitutes to ensure you're still getting all the calcium etc you need.

Thank you for your reassurance sizethree. I've been having a look at all of the vitamins but just haven't been able to buy any this weekend as I've had family company.
