If i ovulated 8 days late, could I still fall pregnant

I had all the signs of ovulation last Sunday,8 days after my cycle calendar predicted.

Last month I had a 31 day cycle, which is long for me, usually I'm 28. Last period started on 27/2/15. Based on last months cycle even at that length im still due my period today, which hasn't shown any sign yet. But still bfn tests. Really just wondering if it's possible to ovulate that late on, but still have a hope of being pregnant.
Is it possible im just having a longer cycle again this month? Hoping this makes sense. I always thought that even if you ovulated late it didn't change the length of LP.

If you ovulated late by 8 days then your cycle length will be 8 days longer, so your 31 day cycle should be 39 days, so AF is actually due in 8 days time.

I'll sound silly I know, but I didn't realise that! I always assumed your LP stayed the same length. No matter when you ovulate. Silly me Grin

Your LP does stay the same, it's your Follicular Phase that changes. So if you ovulated 8 days late that means your FP was 8 days longer. If you have a 14 day LP you will still have a 14 day LP. :)

I'm also potentially ovulating late this cycle (or not at all!), symptoms suggested ov on cd20 which would be normal for me, but I'm temping and I haven't had a thermal shift so haven't ovulated. I've been researching charts with late ovulation and as long as you dtd when your body finally spits the egg out then you're still in with a chance Smile

You can also ovulate twice in one month - apparently women will do so around once every 12-24 months for no real known reason.
I did last year 7 days apart and only really knew for certain because I was opk'ing due to needing my day 21 fertility tests done that month which confirmed it both times. I can't remember now what happened to my LP that month though.

Op your LP is activated by your ovulation - so you are right in that it generally stays the same length. Late ovulation just affects when LP starts.

I'm fairly sure last Sunday was the only time I ovulated.. And if I did ovulate on that date that is why my cycle is so long this month, and why id be getting bfn at this stage, because I'm only 8dpo so if anything had happened I would be to early to test still :) feeling very crampy, sore boobs, sick, today but that isn't insult for me!

Yes, that certainly will be the reason for bfn right now :) 2 week waits are the pits. FX you get a bfp after all this kerfuffle :) Gl
