Withdrawal is not 'contraception' in any sensible use of the term.

Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.

NappiesGalore · 29/10/2006 21:11

Duh! i think more than half the population of the planet came about by blokes reckoning they could pull out in time!

mears · 29/10/2006 21:12

Many women have conceived this way - not recommended!

SherlockLGJ · 29/10/2006 21:13

What do you call people who practice withdrawal as method of contraception ???

Parents

Boom,Boom.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:13

I've had no trouble with it at all.

BUT, I'm not very fertile - or we aren't very fertile together.

So works for us!

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:14

There's someone on here who's been using it for 4 years successfully.

foundintranslation · 29/10/2006 21:15

do you also have an eye on your cycle/the calendar though, expat? Otherwise it would seem to me to be too risky.

lulumama · 29/10/2006 21:16

erm....not a great method!

LOL at sherlock!

even before a man ejaculates.....a few little swimmers are released...if you are in a fertile time....well, you could well get pregnant

i wouldn;t take a chance....

if you wouldn;t be bothered about getting pregnant..then go for it...no hormones, no pills to take......etc....

but not very reliable..

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:16

Yes, but I'm not very fertile, found. Really not.

lulumama · 29/10/2006 21:16

withdrawal different to rhythm method....?

NappiesGalore · 29/10/2006 21:20

i only have to be in the same room as a single sperm without at least 3 methods of contraception in operation to get pregnant!!

i got one of those machines (persona?) after the first baby to try out coz i didnt mind that much if i got pg really... was pg before i had a chance to open the box! i was fully bfeeding my 3 month old son when i conceived! then number 3 wasnt far behind... im REALLY careful now

cece · 29/10/2006 21:20

Yep I have

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:21

Not us! Months of steady practice for each girl . Six months for each.

cece · 29/10/2006 21:22

The doc laughed when I told him and said it wasn't very effective!

lulumama · 29/10/2006 21:22

LOL nappies...DH looks at me funny, i get pregnant!!!

he was gutted...looking forward to trying for a baby!!

pinkstar · 29/10/2006 21:24

hmmmm well not currently ttc however not overly bothered if it happened. Am assuming though that most of the withdrawal accidents were due to not pulling out in time?!! I have always thought that it would be quite unlikely to get pregnant without a full blast going up there (sorry that's gross i know!)

Isn't it really disappointing though - getting off at Paisley instead of Glasgow Central?

Suppose though it is OK if you aren't simultaneous IYKWIM

Apologies - on the wine again

lulumama · 29/10/2006 21:25

mears !

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:25

PMSL, mears! Getting off at Paisley instead of Glesga Central!

We got to practice, practice, practice.

My sister is one of those who look at her naked and she's pregnant. Like my dad's mum.

Her husband had the snip.

lulumama · 29/10/2006 21:25

no pink star...as i said swimmers released even before blast off!!

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:27

I never worry. Like I said, it took ages for us.

My mum took years to fall pregnant. Of course, in the 1960s, they blamed it all on the woman. She was in her early 20s, having regular, 5-7 day long periods complete w/mittelschmertz and had a GYN tell her she was only ovulating a few times a year.

My dad - 11 years older - told this guy, 'I think it's possible I could be firing blanks.'

cece · 29/10/2006 21:28

pinksatr we always get off at Paisley and still got pg

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 21:29

If you're very fertile, I suppose it can happen.

mears · 29/10/2006 21:31

Expat - you didn't answer my question

pinkstar · 29/10/2006 21:32

haha oops i've been avoiding full jet-washes of swimmers but have had numerous sessions this month thinking it was almost safe...i'm such an idiot...
