Hi everyone!

I've been ttc for about 5 months although the first few months were just a 'if it happens it happens' sort of thing, and with being busy I don't think I BD'd at the right time. So ive been planning it around ovulation but I'm yet to get my BFP although i haven't been using ovulation prediction kits which is something im going to try this month.

I was just wondering who actually got pregnant first time round? I think it always gives me more hope seeing people who get pregnant first time round!

Started TTC in January, 3 shags and done but have unfortunately miscarried. Was v shocked it happened so quickly.

MagicAlwaysLeadsToTrouble · 11/03/2015 20:08

Yes 4 times!

Though one ended in early miscarriage

DaisyDuckSW15 · 11/03/2015 21:52

It's reassuring to read that not everyone has an arduous journey towards parenthood, particularly those of you in your late 30s. I'm not going to get my hopes up but it's good to know it can happen!

Sandybananapants · 11/03/2015 21:56

I'm the same as AliMonkey. We had sex just once during ovulation and I fell pregnant three times ( second was MMC) .

aletea · 12/03/2015 11:22

I have, twice.

Rox19 · 12/03/2015 14:06

I was 24, 25, 27 and 29. But I guess in 30s would be the same? I don't know Grin

showtunesgirl · 12/03/2015 16:20

All three of my pregnancies were in my 30s and all three were conceived in under a month. There's a lot we don't know about fertility and why some people are fertile and others aren't!

pineapplecrush · 12/03/2015 17:02

Me too twice. With my second pregnancy I deliberately tried on day 10?? I think, as heard best time to conceive a girl, it worked. I was 35 second time.

cookielove · 12/03/2015 17:12

My first pregnancy i did what you did, just to see what happened e.t.c after 4 months I tried using opks then the next month I used opks and tried the smep! Which resulted in pregnancy, sadly that pregnancy ended in mmc.

Ds1 we were not trying so yeah first time kind of! Grin

FernGullysWoollyPully · 12/03/2015 17:14

The first time, it was 9 months, I'd just got to a point where I thought something was wrong with me and it happened.
Every time since has been first time.

madgiebean · 12/03/2015 18:21

I love reading all your stories ladies! Really gives me hope that I'll get my BFP soon, especially as it's nearing mothers day I just cannot wait to be a mum myself! Fingers crossed

I think more people conceive first time when they have been methodical about it - charted their periods, worked out the best dates to conceive and had very regular sex around that time.
This is very different to having irregular sex at random times and just hoping. Of course some people get pregnant like that, but far fewer will find it happens first month.

So, personally I would measure when I started trying to conceive from when I was quite clinical about it....'tonight's the night darling....and it will be for the next 4 days'. If you find the waiting each month to find out if you are or not difficult, then go the whole hog.....get the sticks to wee on, chart your periods, timetable very regular sex at the right time......not so romantic, but probably more productive.

I think this helps if people have difficulty conceiving too. They can go to the Doc with a record of what they have been doing and the Doc will take it more seriously, more quickly. If they turn up saying they have had irregular random sex for 6 months with no result, they will be told to go away and try more systematically and come back in another 6 months.

This is just what we did.

PippaB007 · 12/03/2015 22:40

I did with my daughter. I struggled a long time to get my period when I went off the pill, due to stupid dr not checking side effect profile of my chronic meds. I had one period, and was bitching about the second one not appearing.

Little did I know!

showtunesgirl · 13/03/2015 09:15

I don't know how common conceiving first try is as I've found that it's almost like a dirty secret. After all, there are many people who aren't so lucky and I don't want to feel like I'm being smug when really it's just luck of the draw.

BreeVDKamp · 13/03/2015 09:16

Yes, we tried once, 5 days before I ovulated! On holiday.

Writerwannabe83 · 13/03/2015 09:59

I did.

I had my Mirena removed and didn't know anything specific about my cycles so didn't know exactly when I was supposed to ovulate. We DTD three times over the course of eight days and then got my BFP.

I was pregnant within 5 weeks if having my Mirena removed.

Psycobabble · 13/03/2015 10:06

Yes. Both times got pregnant after "1 go" Blush
Sadly second time ended in mc though

5madthings · 13/03/2015 10:58

6LittleOnes · 13/03/2015 11:04

I did, twice without even trying and four times trying and conceived straight away.

tumbletumble · 13/03/2015 11:05

I did with DC2 and DC3. DC1 was third or fourth month I think.
