Short LP. Anyone been prescribed progesterone?

I have just had a ridiculously short LP of 7 days- shortest ever. I am so fed up. It was about a year since I went to my GP and it's still not sorted. Finally got referred to consultant in September and had a la done last month. They didn't find anything- I knew they wouldn't as I'm sure that the reason I can't conceive is because of my shirt LP. Consultant said he would possibly prescribe me progesterone but wanted to do blood tests first. Blood tests done last autumn and I'm no further forward. Rang hospital today and was told my next appt was scheduled for May. Just feel like crying at how long it has taken to get nowhere. Feel like I've been messed about.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did you get progesterone supplements? Did they work?

I've been consistently ovulating really late in my cycle (D19) so had a very short LP of 7 days (26 day cycle). I've had three sessions of acupuncture two weeks apart & I ovulated yesterday on D12/13 - right smack bang in the middle of my cycle. I fully attribute this to the acupuncture as I've changed nothing else at the moment. My luteal phase has now almost doubled and I'm feeling a lot more hopeful.

I had a 7 day LP. Mine was sorted with Clomid.

Thanks for replying. I've had a couple of acupuncture sessions but they were interrupted by the lap. I'm starting again next weekend.
I didn't realise clomid could lengthen a short LP. I have heard somewhere that it's usually only given to women 35 and under and I'm 37.

Poor you. I had a very short LP when TTC no2. Bloods normal and Doctor disinterested and said it would resolve itself. I read that in US much more common to be prescribed progesterone.

I bought some progesterone cream and had a couple of months homeopathy. I got pg the 2nd month. No idea if either made a difference or if it just resolved itself but neither were expensive so maybe worth a try.

My GP is very blasé about the whole thing. I've been TTC for 14 months with 1 MC in that time but she doesn't see a need to refer on yet. I figured my short LP might be an issue so I'm glad we're making progress with the acupuncture. Currently in the 2WW - just hope my optimism isn't setting me up for a fall. That's good there was nothing on the lap but frustrating too I guess?

Hello Mrs Badger - sorry to hear you are having a frustrating time getting referred/ taken seriously. I was finding this happened to me a lot, especially seeing male doctors about 'women's things'. Now when I go and see my GP I take a piece of paper with all issues/symptoms written down and a desired outcome for the appointment, as it's very easy to get fobbed off. I type it up and have it so they can see it. I find it helps with communication in a short space of time and about emotive issues. I've been ttc for 10 months - and I had a short lp but I've been taking b vitamin complex and it seems to be lengthening gradually (it's up to 10-13 days from 7-10 days). I've also been taking evening primrose oil between cd1 and ovulation, in an attempt to balance my cycle. I chart my cycle so I have a reasonable idea of what's going on - completely recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Hope you are blessed with a BFP before too long xx

Yes I've also read that they are much more willing to prescribe progesterone in the US and Europe. I've literally tried everything I know of b6, Angus castus, progesterone cream, reflexology and none of it is making a difference. I've been thinking of trying evening primrose oil but I'm a bit worried I might be taking too many supplements already! If I could turn the clock back I would have got my gp to refer me privately to a specialist. The amount of money I've spent on books, creams, pills, reflexology would probably have added up to a few private consultations. I just feel time is ticking and things are not improving. I hope we all get a bfp soonx

Have you had all of your other bloods checked? My last GP had my thyroid over medicated and my new GP has lowered the dose & referred me to endocrinologist for advice on optimal thyroid function to conceive. I'll need to be managed by them anyway when I finally get my BFP.

doobeedee · 01/03/2015 12:48

Clomid helps by strengthening ovulation which in turn increases progesterone and increases the luteal phase.

No amount of supplements worked for me. I tried them all an was rattling by the end!
