Hi all,
I wanted to post on here as having recently found out I am pregnant but not being far enough along to tell friends/family, I feel like I may explode with the news.
The purpose of this post, is to provide a little information on what I found helped me, and what signs and symptoms I had in the run up to my BFP.
Firstly- when I first started trying to conceive, I downloaded Ovia. I used it on an increasingly more religious basis. I initially recorded things like my mood and CM, and before long was logging my BBT. I ended up buying a pack of 30 OPKs and 5 early detection pee sticks online, and never really saw the point in the OPKs.
I purchased (last month) the book "Taking charge of your fertility." While massive, it is hugely informative. I used one of the BBT charts to take my temp data off ovia and put it on paper- this was much more helpful as Ovia only allows you to see about one weeks' worth of temps at a time. The book, and the paper chart enabled me to determine that Ovia thought my fertile period was a week earlier than it was. Had I not brought the book, god knows how long I would have spent trying and failing to get pregnant. This also explains why I found the null result OPKs useless. I would thoroughly recommend this book. I was at first put off by the size, but it is so blimming helpful, and really accessible to read too.
When my thermal shift occurred, my temperature rose from 36.1 to 36.5 and continued to increase daily thereafter. My thermal shift occurred on 01/02, and we did the BD on that day too. 7 days later when checking my cervix I found blood. I panicked initially, slept on it, nothing more happened. I never had any staining on blood on toilet roll etc. Looking back, this was probably implantation bleeding. For the following week, my CF continued to become more and more thick, so I started having suspicions about being pregnant.
I did a Clear Blue test on the morning of Friday 13th, and got a BFP. The next day I told the husband. I got the "commando dad" book and a "I love my daddy babygrow" and wrapped them up in a box. The OH was absolutely chuffed- he always says I forget valentines, and this more than makes up for it. I hope that eeverything goes well, and come late October we will be welcoming a little person in to our lives.
I am now (I think) 6 weeks and 2 days in. My boobs ache, but otherwise I feel fine. I am waiting for a appointment with the midwife which happens at around 8 weeks.
I just wanted to tell somebody my story as aside from the boobs I don't feel any different at all, and I hope that there's not too many other women who like me, thought a free fertility app was the be all and end all when it comes to trying to work out when you can conceive.
Best of luck to all of you ladies. I hope your journey is as smooth, calm and positive as can be.
