Confused about ovulation - anyone else used the pink flower app?

Hi
I have been using the pink flower app to track my periods and it gives you the dates when you ovulate but mine always says I ovulate 1 day after my period finishes - can this be right? Sorry to sound thick but surely if my period has just finished then there hasn't been time for my body to release an egg?! Confused I am probably overthinking this and have been DTD every other day just to make sure Wink but been TTC since August and nothing's happened yet and getting impatient! Anyone else know when you're meant to ovulate? My average length of period lasts 23 to 25 days so it seems odd to be most fertile on day 5 or 6 no? Aghh just wish I could get pregnant now! Any advice appreciated thank you :)

You ovulate about 14 days before the start of your period.

Ovulation varies from woman to woman. The time between ovulation and your period is starting is called your luteal phase. It is generally fixed for each woman and a normal luteal phase is between 10 and 16 days. So for example, if your cycle is 24 days, then you are most likely to ovulate between days 8 and 14 of your cycle.

The best thing to do is have sex every other day or every third day from when your period ends throughout your cycle. Most women will take between 6 and 12 months to conceive as your chances of conception are only around 25% at best on every given cycle.

If you're really trying to track ovulation then monitoring your temperature and looking for signs of ovulation (monitoring cervical mucous for example) is quite revealing. Fertility Friend website is very good and Toni Weschler's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility is excellent.

There's no reason why you can't ovulate the day after your period. Or during your period. It's not that common but it does happen.

Thanks GinandSonic - so I guess it is that close to when my period finishes - does anyone know if short cycles make it harder to conceive as a lot has to happen in a short space of time? Sorry for all the questions just want to feel like I am doing everything I can :)

Just to recommend the book as well. She has a website as well called ovusoft.com I think, just google and you will find it. You can buy software from there for your pc if you want to .

Is this My Days? I use it too. The first green day just means the start of your 'possibly fertile' time. You probably won't ovulate til the last couple of green days.
