Hi all,

Posted in here before but didn't really get any responses.

Only had a handful of periods in my life so far. I've been seeing the gynaecologist and have taken provera once, which bought on a bleed. Nothing since and this was in November.

Apparently my pituitary gland is sending the message to my ovaries but they aren't doing their job.

I am worried I won't be able to have children, because if there is no period then I won't be ovulating that's right yeah?

The gynaecologist doesn't seem to want to do anything until I am actively trying for a baby.

Is there anyone out there that has had anything like this happen to them or going through the same thing?

If you're not ovulating then you're right, you can't get pregnant, but there are various treatments to induce ovulation such as Clomid. However, as with any drug they come with side effects, which is probably why your doctor won't prescribe you anything until you are actually ttc. I would ask him to explain in more detail what options there will be when you decide the time is right. I hope that helps!

Hi sweet

My periods were very erratic and my cycles would be maybe upto 100 days long, I think I have possible even gone 6 months without a period. All of my bloods were normal, no PCOS/endo or anything like that and was basically unexplained.

I am actively ttc but once all tests came back fine, GP wasn't really interested anymore and you are right, unless you are actively trying, there isn't really anything they will do/give you.

I have started 2 natural treatments to 1. regulate my period and 2. help ovulation.

I have acupuncture to regulate my periods. I have never been into all that kind of stuff and had never even considered it and only tried it because my GP mentioned it. I had my first session of acupuncture on CD 49 of my last cycle, I had a period 6 days later, then I had a 33 day cycle and now am on CD23 of my cycle and think it will be just a little longer than the last one. So that has given me a much better cycle than what I was having before. Acupuncture is widely recognised across the infertility society also for reducing mc rates etc.

To assist in ovulation, I take Soy Isoflavones which I bought online, but you can also buy cheaply in supermarkets. A lot of people refer to it as 'nature's clomid' - it basically does the same job. It is a plant oestrogen that encourages the body to ovulate sooner/stronger etc. There is a whole thread on here about Soy that you can find much more information than I could give you so perhaps have a read through that?

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your message.
I've not had a period in years.... First time I've seen a bleed was after taking the provera.

My parter has said what ever happens happens (not using any contraception) but even so I'm not going to fall so I don't know if I need to tell the gynaecologist we are trying now.

I've never looked in to acupuncture! I have heard mixed reviews from people that have tried it e.g that it's painful.
I wouldn't know when to have it as I don't have cycles

X

I'm not sure then if you haven't had one for years.

Yes, tell the gynaecologist that you are trying, at least they will investigate then.

I am the biggest wuss of them all and was terrified before my first appointment and I swear, I never felt a pin going in, they are so tiny! The only time I have ever experienced pain is when he does some reflexology (free of charge) in with it. Which reminds me that some people have reflexology for help with the reproductive system - it's a fair bit cheaper and has results. But really cannot recommend acupuncture highly enough. Have a look around, and a consultation with an acupuncturist will usually be free. And the acupuncture doesn't need to relate to the cycle, he will work all of that out and tailor it to suit your requirements. I don't have my BFP but I think the acupuncture is getting me there Smile

Hi Sweet

I've been TTC since Sept and have only had one AF since then (in Nov). I'm currently on cd55 and still no sign of AF. Have poas but bfn.... several times Sad
I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 years old and told I would never be able to have children.
My Doctor told me they would help me after 6 months of TTC, so 2 months to go.
I've heard a lot of good things about Soy and about acupuncture for helping to regulate cycles and help ovulation. I've had accuputurr before for anxiety related issues and found it really relaxing... not painful at all!
My plan is to take Soy CD 3-7 and book in some acupuncture sessions to see if that gets things started Smile Just need AF to arrive!!!
Neither of those things can make things any worse than they already are so im just thibking- why not give it a try!?!
Hope you get some answers soon! They are so many of us with uncooperative bodies Confused x

Hi sweet

Glad to hear you will give it a go!

Is the CM clear and stretchy like raw egg white? If so that is fertile cervical mucus and you should be getting busy with your DH over the next week! Egg white cervical mucus last 4/5 days and then you will ovulate. Fingers crossed for you!!

cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 15/01/2015 20:56

That's if you would like to ttc NOW of course!!

SweetHome87 · 15/01/2015 22:10

Hey,

Yes it was very stretchy and exactly like egg whites. Last couple of days I have had a few stabbing like pains which feel like they are inside also.

See I always thought it meant I was ovulating, but then with not having periods I stopped thinking that.

If I get busy with my partner would it need to be just over the next week? x

This week will be your most fertile and every other day would be just fine! I like to make sure me & OH do it every few days even when i know I'm not fertile as it reminds you that you do it because you live & fancy each other not just for baby making. I'd go for it if I were you! Who knows, could be your time! How exciting! X
