Chances of pregnancy?

Ok so last few cycles have been in between 21 and 35 ish days (came off pill in September). Last cycle was 29 days - began December 22nd.

We have dtd ONCE since then - in the v early hours of New Year's Day Blush

This Thursday will be 14 days since then, so in theory a pregnancy test will be accurate. However, if this was a textbook 28 day cycle it'd be like doing a test 4 days early Confused

I think pregnancy is unlikely, as we dtd too early. DH, as usual, has got his hopes up and thinks we're in for a chance as I keep snapping and crying randomly (usual PMT signs for me!). Have also put in weight but that must be due to Christmas over indulging?!

Anyone care to advise?!

It is theoretically possible of course. With sex at exactly the right time your chances are never more than 25%. With such a massive variation in cycle length however, it's possible that you aren't ovulating. I would perhaps ask for a blood test to check if you aren't pregnant.

To check if you are ovulating I mean...

Ooh I didn't think of that tbh. Why have periods with no ovulation? That's just confusing! Thank you though :)

Regardless of whether you ovulate, your body will still prepare for conception. If this doesn't happen, the uterine lining is still shed, hence the period. I'd see if your periods settle down over this month and the next but if your cycle remains so irregular, it may be worth having some initial blood tests.

Thank you, would the doctor actually do them though? We already have three DC...
