Another ovulation question!

I am curerntly on CD18. I had ewcm on days 11,12,13 and 14. Did ovulation testing from day 11 and got a positive result on CD14. Does this mean that I ovulated on day 14 or later as I thought the OPK's predicted ovulation over next 24-36 hours.
Don't think I am pg as last bd was CD9.
Thanks in advance for help.

Ipl I would have thought from the EWCM and the +opk that you did OV on CD14 but if you were temping too, you would know by your temps. HTH

Thanks I haven't been temping as I have only just started ttc for baby no2 and with DS it happened within 3 months. If I have no success soon thinking temping may be the way to go.

Can I just add a question...?

In terms of signs of ovulation should all women get some kind of lower abdominal pain when they ovulate? I'm not always aware of experiencing any but this might be because I am not looking out for it.

Also...is it possible to ovulate every other month only?

PizPizPiz · 17/10/2006 20:46

no you don't necessarily get ov pains and yes it's possible not to ov some months. It's actually quite common.

MrsMcJnr · 18/10/2006 12:16

Fells, the book I am reading at the moment ("The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis) says that if everything is balanced in our bodies and working properly, we should not experience any OV pain but then again Toni Weschler in her book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" says that some people can feel pain when the follicle ruptures and the egg is released. Hope that helps!

So when you ovulate how long does it take the egg to go down? If you ovulate and the egg is released in the morning and you had sex in the evening is that too late?

spilttheteaagain · 05/07/2010 18:50

Hi rosie. Apparently the chance of conceiving on the day after ovulation is very very small. The egg has about 12-24 hours after release before it dies, and bear in mind it's released in the fallopian tube. The sperm have to get up through the cervix and across the uterus, up the tube etc. Not sure how long that takes them, but I would think sex in the evening is likely to be cutting it fine/a bit late. You'd be much better doing it the night before or in the morning. Trouble is predicting these things/having time in the morning!

I always experience some level of discomfort and bloating around ovulation time - it is called mittelschmertz (I think) and is quite common.

I agree with spilt, that sex during the few days prior to ovulation is far more likely to succeed than sex on ovulation day.

spilttheteaagain · 05/07/2010 19:42

You suck up BV, you keep agreeing with me!

LittleSilver · 05/07/2010 19:49

waves at BV and spilt!

OP, just because you got a +OPK doesn't mean you ov'd. Temping is better. Using cm, cp and temps is better-er.

HTH.
