Sorry if this is long but I'm a bit confused and looking for a bit of advice/help..

Despite exclusive breastfeeding (including several times a night!) my periods returned just 1 month after having DS (lucky me! )

they have been regular every 26days (my regular cycle length pre-DS) till last month when I had a 32-day cycle... This month, I am currently on day 35 and still no sign of AF! Before the obvious is said - I have done a pregnancy test and got a BFN!

I am curious now to know if I'm ovulating so that I can discuss/plan future babies with DH. After getting a few BFN's, I'm now getting quite broody for another...

so, the question is, when should I start using ovulation tests?! I know I used to ovulate on day 11/12 but now I have no idea... I'm guessing I'll have to wait for AF to arrive to figure out when day 1 is but then from what day do I test? How often do I need to do the tests - would it be every day till it says I am ovulating or is it every other day? Also, how long should I give for AF to arrive - could I have just skipped a period and instead of being on day 35, I'm on day 9 of my next cycle?!

So confusing!

TIA

You'll have to start at the earliest reasonable day and then test every day at the same time until you get a +ve.
If you notice other fertile signs like a couple of days of fertile mucous then that could help you narrow down the testing window, so might make it a bit less expensive.

I'm afraid I don't know what is happening to your cycle this month, it is v.odd.

I would not use opk's at all if your periods have become more irregular. They can give false positive results.

Such kits work on two misleading principles - namely that women only have one rise in LH every month and that such a rise is immediately followed by ovulation. Both these statements are not true.

It is possible to have the occasional anovulatory cycle - even normally fertile women have such a thing. This is likely to be happening with your good self.

You are still on day 35 of your next cycle and not day 9 of the one after. You have not skipped a cycle to the next one.

ok, thanks for the replies... guess I'll just stick it out and see what happens... Mother Nature didn't make things straight forward!
