Is it true that if your cycle is over 35 days long you are probably not ovulating?

Not true. However, it is highly likely that you are not ovulating around day 14. Ovulation usually occurs sometime around 12 and 14 days before the first day of menstruation.

My cycle has always been 35 days or so and I ovulate on day 21 (use opk's). Downside is oviously that you have longer to wait each cycle to find out if you might be pg.

You are less likely to be ovulating if your cycle is irregular in nature.

Ovulation is not an exact science and ovulation can occur earlier, later or not at all in ANY given cycle so it is possible to have periods without ovulating. Even normally fertile women have the occasional anvoulatory cycle.

OPK's are also problematic because a woman can have more than one LH surge every month. OPK's assume that women only have one such surge and that this is immediately followed by ovulation - not true!!.
