Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine - Any experience?

Hi ladies,

I am currently on Day 49 of cycle and still havent ovulated. This is normal to my cycle and can sometimes be up to 90 days.

My GP advised me that she has lots of positive feedback about acupuncture so I have booked a consultation with my local chinese medicine practioner. He advises that they may treat with acupuncture but would look at other options too. Just wondered if there was anyone with any experience they could offer me?

Thank you in advance all :)

I'll keep an eye out for you cantbelieve!
Let the needles do the work!
I've emailed my acupuncturist. Waiting for her to email back! She is going to be so shocked.

Fan-bloody-tastic! That's excellent news allchat.

I told my acupuncturist today, he was pleased and recommended to keep going till 12 weeks. Was completely different today, normally I'm stabbed in the feet, wrists and ears, today it was in my back. And he burnt some herbs on the points before he did them. He also recommended to keep my iron levels up, better start eating some steaks (not rare, boo) Smile

allchatnicknamesgone · 24/11/2014 18:38

Thanks owl. I'm 100% going for whole 1st trimester, although I might see if I can go fortnightly instead of every week. It is costly. I also just spent £40 on herbal fertility drugs from her. I've only take 3 days worth.
Never had one in my ear. I'd quite like one in my back. Get awful bad backs.

StuffedOwl · 24/11/2014 18:45

Yes, I go fortnightly at £40 a time. You should mention about any other ailments, I had a bad cold and had lots of catarrh from it, so he put a needle in my throat to help - he did ask me first though, but I'm not squeamish and it did help. Need to get your monies worth where you can!

allchatnicknamesgone · 24/11/2014 18:59

oh yes. I had needles for sinuses for first 2 weeks x

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 24/11/2014 19:09

I only have had them in my back so far.. Although he did say we will start on my abdomen soon! Hope he doesn't mind the jelly belly! Haha. I paid £350 upfront for acupuncture weekly for 3 months and £100 for 3 months of fertility herbs which he will adapt accordingly should I regulate (and without jinxing myself) get pregnant Confused I also have the burning herbs but afterwards.

Mmm owl I just had rare steak for tea, my fave!!

Still can't believe your amazing news allchat Is hubby home from work yet and having you pee on more sticks?! That's what mine would be like!

Ha. He got back about 7.30, then I had to go out at 8am. The news hasn't sunk in for either of us still. He said that he had to keep getting up and walking round his office. I think he's more happy for me. He's a guy! He's not big with emotions! I have a digi for the morning. It just seems to good to be true though. I'm worrying.

I bought those fertility drugs too. Only on Friday. They were so expensive and I really debated buying them. Wish I could get refund!

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 25/11/2014 08:51

Haha. It must be a very surreal feeling.

Hey think of it as investment for baby no 2! Wink

This is no 2. No 1 is 6.5 yrs old. x

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 25/11/2014 12:26

Of course!! Baby no 3 then if you're brave enough haha x

allchatnicknamesgone · 25/11/2014 12:29

I'd love 3, but I'll be ecstatic with 2. x

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 25/11/2014 21:03

I bet you will be. After 9 years of saying "no more" I am now desperate and cannot believe how hard it is to get pregnant. So I'm keeping going until I run out of eggs now, the more the better haha.

How are you feeling? Any symptoms yet? X

allchatnicknamesgone · 26/11/2014 09:37

I'm panicking. I had some brown mixed with cm this morning when I went to loo. I know it can go either way now. It's too cruel. I'm praying.

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 26/11/2014 10:27

Don't go into panic mode allchat - this is really common in early stages of pregnancy, I was only reading about it the other day. Go to see your GP if it helps. But really dont go into panic mode, you need to be as relaxed as possible. x

OP posts:
allchatnicknamesgone · 26/11/2014 10:34

Spoke to Gp. She said it was to early and that it could go either way.
I think I need to step away from the internet to be honest. Great for support but I'm not sure googling and reading other stories (some good, some bad) is the best thing.
Still got cramping that feels exactly like AF now, so I'm caving inside..
x

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 26/11/2014 10:39

She is right of course, but I can't believe how common slight spotting/bleeding is in early pregnancy. For years I believed if you had a tiny bit of blood it would be over, but not so. My BF and SIL are both pregnant and both had same issue, both progressing with healthy pregnancies. Stay away from internet if you think it will help. Go have a nice warm bath, read a book and try to take your mind away from it until next time you need the loo. Take it as easy as you can x

allchatnicknamesgone · 27/11/2014 09:29

I've lost it x

StuffedOwl · 27/11/2014 10:03

Oh allchat I really feel for you. I don't think I can say anything that will help, but please take care of yourself to get through this. Thinking of you lots Flowers

Cantbelieveimdoingthisagain · 27/11/2014 11:22

Can't even imagine how you are feeling allchat sending you all my love, like owl says, please look after yourself & make sure DH does xx

I had acupuncture at the start of my 7th month of ttc. I was diagnosed as being "damp" (explanation of that here health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/natural-medicine/chinese/traditional-chinese-medicine-causes-of-illness4.html)

I was sceptical and thought it was a load of old rhubarb, but was desperate for a baby so I handed over £200 for 5 sessions of acupuncture, some Chinese tablets to "dry me out" Grin and a months supply of foul teas that made me gag to drink.

I started on October 1st. On October 25th I got my BFP. She's almost five months old now. Maybe it was pure coincidence but give it a go- what have you got to lose?

StaircaseAtTheUniversity · 27/11/2014 11:46
