First of all I'll start by saying hi! I'm new here and I was so confused as to which topic this post relates, my apologies if this is wrong...

My concern is this:
I get my period the 25 of everything month, without a doubt but my doctor has placed me on a no-break 3 months (9 week) cycle of the birth control Pill (co-cyprindiol for those who may want to know). This 9 weeks began on Thursday 23rd. I've not yet had any bleeding and I'm unsure whether to take this as The Pill has already started working (I was made aware it takes upto 7 days to have effect), or that I may be pregnant?

We weren't taking any precautions to avoid pregnancy as we both feel ready and in a great place in our lives at the moment with a new house and solid careers and figured if it happens, it happens (I have one working ovary so we figured the chances are pretty slim).

I'm looking to seek advice on what to do? Should I stop the pill for a few days (3,4 or 5?) and see if my period comes? Or continue the pill anyway?

Any and all advice would be a great help!

I guess the
Only one who can answer- is your doc and why he is insisting on you going on it for 9 weeks- is it for a medical reason - and will getting pregnant at this point cause harm to a baby developing eg like you are also on roaccutane.

Sorry can't advise further

Thank you for replying

He's insisting I do the 9 weeks now just because it will take me to the new year for a follow up appointment, convenience based reason I guess
I am taking them for the treatment of acne.
It completely slipped my mind in the appointment to mention about the fact I was due to have my period, I haven't had any of my usual period related symptoms this month i.e headaches, bloating, irritability

Maybe I'm just being paranoid! Blush

You need to take a pregnancy test asap, co-cyprindiol is not safe to take during pregnancy as the hormones in it are much at a much higher level than ordinary contraceptive pills.

Hopefully it will be that the pill has started to have an effect already but far better to play safe and test anyway.

Thank you very much,
I'm going to test tomorrow and stop my pill for a few days to see if a period will happen for me.. Better safe than sorry
