Should I take soy isoflavones?

I have lovely regular cycles normally (ov cd14-17) and lp of around 12 days but in July I had an ectopic pregnancy and had to have my left tube removed.

DH and I have been TTC for 2 months now. When we tried with DD we conceived the first time of trying, then had a mc, then a wtf cycle and then conceived DD. And DS was an accident while I was on the pill. So I've been really lucky at conceiving previously so not succeeding for 2 months is unusual for us. With this in mind I was thinking about taking the soy isoflavones to try to release more than one egg to give us a better chance in case I produce one from my left ovary and it doesn't go anywhere.

But I have read how it's not for people with regular cycles so I just thought I'd ask for opinions /thoughts /suggestions as to what to do.

Today is CD1 so I was going to start tomorrow so please hurry up and help me! Smile

Thanks

I took them in the first half of my cycle and conceived DS on the first cycle of taking them - following one WTF cycle after coming off Implant, then one early MC, then one more WTF cycle, then another early MC, then another WTF cycle... Sorry if that's not clear but what I'm trying to say is they worked for me first cycle, after several unsuccessful ones.

Terrys I started a thread with the exact same title a week or two ago!! I also have regular cycles and have confirmed ovulation every month, but have been trying for No.2 now for almost 18 months, so was wondering whether to give SI a go or not after reading good things about them. I was a bit wary as I do have regular cycles, but decided after 17 months it couldn't hurt to try. I decided to take them cd4-8 to improve egg quality rather than increase the amount of eggs, just on a low dose of 100mg a day, stopped last night, so am yet to see what the effects are! I think if it were me in your situation I would wait another month or two to see if conception can happen on its own, like you say if you normally have no problems conceiving, 2 months isn't very long to be trying, but I know how frustrating it feels each month that it doesn't work! What have your cycles been like since you had your tube removed? Have you been using opk sticks or temping? If you do decide to take them, just try it out on a low dose on cd 3-7, there is some really helpful info on this thread about when/how to take it www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2206677-soy-isoflavones-yes-or-no
Good luck Smile!

Gingerbread thanks for your post. yes I do temp and use OPKs so I know I am ov-ing and considering we have DTD a lot around OV the last 2 months I can only attribute the lack of success to the removal of my tube.

Here is my chart if you're interested!

Hi Terrys did you decide to take the SIs in the end? Seems to be quite a few people on the conception threads having a go with them!

TerrysNo2 · 24/10/2014 13:57

Gingerbread I have decided not to take them, as much as I would love to increase my chances I just couldn't risk messing my body up as I know I'd regret it. I have lovely regular cycles and with all the crap and stress of the ectopic this year I didn't want to do anything to mess them up again.

I know I will be wondering if I don't get a BFP this month but I can always try them later. For now I am hoping my body will remember what it has successfully done twice before!

Thanks for commenting :)
