Should I go to the doctor re. TTC?

Hi,
I've been TTC since April and not conceived yet. I know most couples conceive within a year but I'm getting very worried something is wrong with me. I suppose this is a natural feeling when TTC?

I am sure I ovulate most months as I get sharp pains in one side around my expected ovulation date. Unfortunately due to severe insomnia I don't think keeping track of my temp works well (I pretty much never get more than 2 hours continuous sleep before waking up for a while).

The problem I've been a bit worried about is I get very little CM. I do get some about a week before OV and a little at other times, but mostly there isn't any (or barely noticable). I've read that some women keep track of where they are in their cycle by observing their CM, but I don't get much at all to observe.

I know I need CM to conceive but even when OV I don't seem to get much at all. I have always had a problem with sex being painful, but I wrote this off as not being a physical problem. Now I wonder if a lack of CM is, in part, making the problem worse.

I know women vary a lot with this sort of thing, but could you give me an idea as to what I should have? I don't want to go to the doctor if this is normal. I don't think I could cope with having any kind of examination by the doctor at the moment due to my anxiety.

Also, if this is a problem can it be easily rectified? It's been on my mind for a long time so any advice would be great :)

Hi Purple Theres a lot of ladies who dont get noticeable cm and still get pregnant so I wouldnt worry to much.
However there are things you can try, I tried evening primrose tablets this cycle and had loads of EWCM so looks like it worked.

Have you tried opks to test for and LH surge around ovulation, I cant temp either but opks are the next step down.

Unfortunately just going by pain doesnt mean your ovulating...I get EWCM positive opks and ovulation pains and im not ovulating (proved by blood test).

I've been ttc for 18 months and its normal to be worried but relaxing is the best thing to do so early on. It is normal to take any when from 6 months to 2 years.

Doctors will start testing for a problem once its a been a year.

Good luck

Have you tried pre-seed, which mimics cm?

Thanks for your replies! Very much appreciated :)

I'm really happy to hear lots of women have a similar thing and get pregnant :) That has put my mind at rest a lot. I will try evening primrose tablets and see if they help, definitely worth a shot! I really hope it has worked for you :)

I do use opks and each month they have indicated I should ovulate, so that is a positive. I am trying very hard to get this sleep schedule sorted so that I can temp.

We've been using Conceive Plus but not tried Preseed. I looked at preseed and got a bit worried about that applicator. I don't think I'd be able to dtd if I had to do that first. I might give it a go though and see if I can manage it.

Yeah I thought as much. I couldn't even get a doctors appointment when I was coughing blood and blacking out when I had bronchitis so I'm sure they wouldn't be impressed at seeing me for a possible lack of CM lol. I do have to see the doctor each month so was thinking of just dropping it in there, but as they won't do anything I think I'll just try and relax.

So good to have a chat on here. It definitely puts these little worries (which feel like big ones at the time) into perspective :) I think I just need to stop scrutinising everything my body does and let it do its thing!

Good luck to you all and thanks again :)

I would disagree with upduffed and say it will depend on dr. I got blood tests after 9m ttc due to suspecting hypothyroidism - my dsis has it. Dr didnt belive me - apparently to thin (load of rubbish) but suggested pcos. So both were tested and DH sperm which we delayed (a silly mistake sure the issue was me.
I did have pcos, dh sperm test was bad. And ttc #2 i do now have hypothyroidism.
If you had say irregular periods, facial hair and suspected pcos then dr has a duty to diagnose as its not just a fertility issue due to increased heart issues, problems with weight. Certainly it would have helped me if id known about the pcos at 18 when i had irregular cycles, i would have ttc much younger.

A health supplement for fertility is malatonin (i think) which is to do with sleep. Could be your sleep issues are affecting egg quality or hormone levels.
Also i didnt see your age over 35 you can see dr after 6m.
Think no ewcm is low estrogen levels
