Hi All,

I am awaiting a potential PCOS diagnosis- I am 27 and have had regular periods (28-30 day cycle) ever since I was a teenager, until this year. In the last month my cycles have been 40-50 days, and my skin has become atrocious. I've gone from having very clear skin to oily skin which I cannot control, and painful, hormonal spots all month round.

I went to Dr two months ago having come off the pill in January with the idea of starting to TTC. I explained my symptoms and she suggested a blood test. I had the first one three weeks ago to test for my thyroid which came back fine. Today I had the hormone one for LH and FSH, but am worried reading this thread that this should have only been done on CD2. I reckon I am about CD 47 now, so will the results be skewed?

I have gained weight in the last two years (2 stone) and have a borderline overweight BMI. Wondering what I need to say to my DR to ensure I get the diagnosis I believe I need. I am now beginning to chart my temperature and periods much more closely having been very relaxed with it for the last few years. It all changes once you start TTC! Any advice greatly received.

I have PCOS. I suffer from hirsutism, am overweight etc.
I got a positive result from an internal ultrasound. My hormones have always been squiffy but it was only after reading a magazine article I went for actual testing specifically for PCOS. I don't just have the syndrome but have the actual cysts as well. Some people only suffer the syndrome, and find it easier to get treatment when ttc.
Simply tell your doctor that you want to be referred for an ultrasound, and change doctors if you need to in order to get one. You will never feel at ease until you know for sure.
Good luck.

Hi
We sound in a very similar boat!
Came off the pill in jan too and cycles now around 40-45 days
Also 27:)
Weight increase, ache and skin change, hair growth always been a factor
Internal ultrasound was confirmation although only in one ovary mainly (my left ovary is double size of my right ovary)
Started charting my temp over last two cycles and waiting for a referral to Gyn
My doctor told me I won't have a 'diagnosis' on my file as not like I've got diabetes or heart condition which made me furious as this affects many parts of my life
From bullying at school for my gorilla arms ( only so many times u can say 'yer well it keeps me warm in the winter') to now next stage in mine n hb life
Xxx
