dear lovely ladies

may i ask if, in your esteemed experience, cm on the increase between ov and AF due date is a prerequisite to a BFP? or is this just a 'symptom' which affect some?

Could we have a little lunchtime vote? (lovely)

seriously, experiences appreciated

cheers girl

I had a huge 'clot' (tmi) of creamy/ewcm at about 10dpo when pg with DS!

3catstoo · 26/09/2006 13:18

I get alot of CM inthe run upto AF avery month. Very confusing at first as I though perhaps I was Oving late.
Unfortunately for me it's a sign of AF coming.
May indicate pg in those women who don't get it on a regular basis prior to AF though.

Sorry I'm typing too quickly.

I have CM everyday throughout my cycle, I wear panty liner everyday (sorry if TMI...). Am I normal or do you think something could be wrong?

Having said above during ovulation it does change to egg white.

Yes do you mean any type of CM or fertile CM?
I have CM on every day and always have a bit of slightly stretchy CM on 9 or 10 dpo. Have had that when I was not pregnant but ttc (ie most of the time) and have had it on one month when I had a chemical pregnancy.
Input from pregnant women who watch their CM would be helpful here.

I'm normally dry after OVed. But this cycle I OVed on CD12 now CD19 and very creamy and at times EWCM (soz TMI) I would like to know weather this is a sign of PG too, keeping my fingers crossed as I don't want to make 16 months TTC without a dickey bird!

FemaleoftheSpecies · 26/09/2006 13:42

tks all - i read y/day that there is a difference between vaginal and cervical secretions - tmi but i'm dry now. immediately after ov i had some cm but now just a bit of white sort of bitty textured vaginal stuff. sorry!

it just seems like in the 2ww, moistness from ov to bfp of some kind is a v good sign. in which case, i'm out this month. again!

I got my BFP last week and have had lots of EWCM / CM since OV.

I didn't normally have this from OV to AF.

But I did use Grapefruit juice, cough med an EPO to increase my CM this month, so don't know if this had longer term affect.

Not taking any of these now.

FemaleoftheSpecies · 26/09/2006 13:54

the bit i find confusing is.. if start of ov is marked by a blob of cm .. that seems the most difficult stuff for the sperm to swim thru... unless by the time the sperm gets to destination the cm has gone from thick blob to clear stretchy cm

is the sperm supposed to sort get 'blobbed along' to meet by the egg by the cm or is a nutrient? i'm struggling to see how it can get sort of 'penetrate' the clear blobby stuff..

i've read various things.. just generally confused.

either way, nothing going on now - certainly no blob of cm which i understand is good sign of impending bfp as it indicates that a plug is being formed over the cervix..

Femaleofthespecies, I have wondered about how thick my ewcm is. It is veeeery stretchy, but it does seem very thick too, and I would imagine it's more difficult to swim through than watery stuff - I certainly wouldn't fancy my chances swimming through it, ( and I have two arms and two legs, sperm only have a little tail)). Sorry, being silly.
I think it is meant to provide the right pH, and enables them to swim up through the hole in the cervix.

ruthlouise · 26/09/2006 21:17

Hi
My last pg sadly ended in a late m/c but even before I got my bfp, I just knew I was pg 'cos of all the cm. I used to use another parenting site and posted that I thought I was pg a few days before my BFP. Before that I had the same sign with my dd. That's what I'm watching out for this time too . for me it'll be a definite sign although I have also read that its not a reliable indicator for everyone.

This is quite a good site here

Rubles, do you drink plenty of water? Dehydration can apparently cause it to be thicker.

Fertile CM provides nutrients to help sustain the sperm too.

ruthlouise · 26/09/2006 21:22

Sorry, should have clarified that the link explains the causes and changes in CM rather than linking CM to being a sign of pregnancy. I added it afterwards and meant to stick it at the end. whoops!
