Irregular cycles, suspected PCOS... was about to get a referral, but because DH took such a long time to get the sperm test done (he hates invasion of privacy Hmm), my blood tests are now out of date.

Problem is that I don't know WHEN my next period will be. Last one was in July! It's late but also a negative test! I just need to rant... If we still can't conceive over the next 6 months, we may do IVF privately.

Can't even look at Facebook anymore, with all the baby pics. And others even email or send them to my phone. What can you do???

Sad

I feel your pain QueenOfHope. I have been TTC #1 for twice that time, nearly 4 years, also about to turn 36. I had a MMC in May 2013 and there has been a delay in starting IVF for us as the consultant we were finally referred to last June felt we could still conceive naturally (even though it had taken us 26 months last time) and we were sent away to keep trying. Next appointment is December so I am hoping we will finally be offered some help. I am absolutely sick of TTC. Constantly avoiding pregnant women at work and have cut myself off from a lot of friends (who are all in the 'mummy' circle of play dates etc) It is horribly isolating.

Do you have a referral date at all?. You do not have to wait for your next period and you should be referred asap.

You can actually have the blood tests done according to calendar days so you would have these done on the 2nd and 21st of the month. These tests should be repeated monthly.

Your DHs sperm analysis should be repeated as well.

IVF is not the first line of treatment for PCOS and should only be tried when all other treatment options have been exhausted. This is because PCOSers have a higher than average risk of ovarian hyperstimulation. It may well be that you will not need IVF at all.

2 years and 10 months trying to conceive and I am 35. It's really tough going when you get told nothing seems to be wrong by doctors?! Currently in the 2 week torture stage of my cycle.

St4rfish · 16/09/2014 22:39

Hyland, I've been told nothing wrong here as well - scans, bloods, husband's SA all fine. Seems silly to wish for an actual problem but then at least I could focus on a solution.
Queen - have you tried acupuncture for cycle regulation? Would recommend.

Hi Queen,
I know how frustrating it is I am 36 been ttc over 2 years. After all tests and investigations, there's no reason why we are not successful.
Don't wait for your next period, speak to the GP again now so that you are ready when need be.

It's hard not to feel frustrated and sad. I had to take a break for a few months while I sorted my head out.
I was sending myself crazy with the symptom spotting and try not to think about it too much now.
:)

Good luck. Xx

No referral date yet. AF finally came and have to get second set of blood tests done (apparently, they are compulsory on the NHS where we live and can't be older than 6 months - otherwise referral will be rejected). Luckily I fought to get 3-day blood test done (typical NHS, they apparently had no timeslot available)...

St4fish I've done acupuncture, reflexology… loads of money spent, no results.

Good for you putting up a fight and glad your period has arrived so you can move forward.
Kick DH's arse to repeat his test - I understand it's not the most comfiest of situations especially if you're having to fill the pot AT the hospital but it must be done.
We used to live within a 5 min drive so could do the sample at home then go take it to the lab, however they've now moved it 45 mins away so if my DH needed it doing again (he doesn't) we'd have to find somewhere onsite :)
Good luck X
