Hi Ladies,

Just to say first of all, I'm not pregnant, but obviously trying, for my first and I have a few questions.

I've read on here that GP's won't see you until your 6 weeks and that you need to keep testing - this has totally confused me and if it happens to me i think I'll go mental with worry, why do you have to wait to see a GP? And why do you need to keep retesting? If your pregnant you can't just not be pregnant over night can you? You will know if you have chemical preg or a MC because you would bleed?

Also, when you first find out, who is it that tells you whether you need to go see a GP or be referred straight to a midwife? And is your first scan always at 12 weeks?

Sorry for all the questions xx

In my case i got the bfp & contacted my gp surgery who informed me that i didnt need to see the gp because the pt had already confirmed i was pregnant. All i had to do was fill in a form & wait for a letter off the midwife for an appt to fill in my green notes. After that an appt off the hosp for a dating scan at about 12 weeks.

Thanks for the reply, were you quite laid back about that? I can imagine me worrying that i have to wait so long for the scan, or do the symptoms reassure you? X

With both my pregnancies I booked an appointment with the midwife at my gp surgery at around 8-10 weeks. There's not much for the gp to do as they take a positive hpt as enough proof that you're pregnant.

The loooong wait for the first scan is agonising. With my second pregnancy I panicked and ending up spending a small fortune on clearblue digis so I could see the numbers going up Blush. I wouldn't recommend that though, because it does make you get a bit obsessive!

After having 5dc's I was quite laid back despite having early bleeding in all pregnancies.

I think i will find that wait torture, im a worrier so think that might make me worse!!

My symptoms persisted & I had no cramps so this reassured me.thankfully my periods were regular as clock work & at my dating scan the due date was pretty close to what I'd worked out.

Emily I'm so glad you asked all that! I was wondering too. We've been trying for our first for 2months now. I don't know how anyone coped without the internet....I'm obsessed with these ttc threads!

Good luck :)

scienceteachergeek I know exactly what you mean. I've developed the obsession with the ttc threads too. I think I'd definitely be going crazy without the Internet!
