Just wondered because I am feeling very stressed at the moment!!

I am going to stop myself ovulating at this rate! Keep telling myself just to write this cycle off as a no hope cycle but just can't bring myself to quite do that iykwim! Lots going on at the moment and I thought this may distract from ttc but I suspect ttc is still the main cause of the stress!

6th cycle ttc no.2. PCOS- been on metformin 2 weeks. HyCosy on Fri showed virtually no pcos and a 'lovely' egg waiting on 1 ovary. Should feel encouraged but just feel more pressure now! Will stop now as I'm rambling but can anyone relate?

I had 2 misscarriages and then stopped ovulating as hormones went mental. at the same time I was having enormous shit in my personal life that is too long and involved to say here and I conceived and amazingly went full term throughout the most HORRIBLE stress as it all got worse and now I'm a mum the situation is so insane its even more too long to talk about!! So yes its very possible!

we tried for 6 months in relatively stress free circumstances with nothing happening then we moved house while working and entetainging 9 of my husbands rellies who had come to help for the weekend and was trying to decorate to open a B&B, sell a house in Ireland while still working out my notice. Fell pregnant during the busiest week when wasn't thinking about it.

April 2000 M/C

June 2000 Move ............................crying all the way down the A1

June July August cry and moan about rented house,(which had chocolate brown skirting boards, you get the picture)

So yes it is more than possible.

When I was worried about stress affecting conception my GP told me that if stress stopped people getting pregnant then there would be no babies born in times of war etc. Try not to worry and be kind to yourself.

Hello Pandaeyes, I worry about this too, I have a lot on my plate at the moment and I do think I am putting a lot of pressure on myself to conceive too because that would be a happy thing to happen in the midst of all the not so good stuff. Last month, we had an unexpected guest for a week (was meant to be a night) and it was just before OV, OVd 2 days later than normal as a result! I am trying to relax more and take pleasure in simple, everyday things but I am a worrier and a bit of a control freak and I find it hard to calm myself down. HTH, can only share! All the best!

Stress can be a factor in conceiving, but the fact you're under stress won't necessarily be a bar to conception. After all, rape victims get pregnant, and women in world wars get pregnant.

Thanks all- some encouraging stories

My worry is that I'm basically so stressed and wound up about ttc. I am desperate lol! I conceived no.1 at an extremely hectic time with loads going on but I wasn't stressed then, per se, just incredibly busy.

This time around, I am trying to distract myself with other stuff but ttc always comes to the forefront of my thoughts. I can't see a way out of this pattern and feel I won't get pg if I'm getting upset about it all the time! I can't just be 'not thinking' about it...

I think I've been stressed for the last 2 years of ttc. I got a BFP last week and hope it will stick.
Think it can be factor, but don't think it absolutely rules out falling pg, as many posts here have mentioned.
I think it's healthy to try to distract yourself if only for short periods, because if everyone ttc were honest we all obsess to a certain extent (otherwise why would we seek out like minded OCD'ers on MN

Wish you lots of luck - and try not to stress about stressing as well as ttc!!

Can beat that cece - got pg in the ofsted week itself when I also had terrible laryngitis and couldn't speak louder than a whisper (great for showing your teaching skills at their best). Teacher friends are amazed that I had the energy but I know that actually the conception was a desperate escape bid from the horrors of teaching/ofsted stress. I was willing to do anything to escape the job even though the actual escape was 9 months too late

cece · 26/09/2006 22:28

ah yes but there was 3 of us tested positive that week . The head was thrilled!
